During our initial session, I will create a safe and confidential environment where you can can openly discuss your concerns and goals. I will ask questions about your personal history, current challenges, and any relevant symptoms or emotions you may be experiencing. This information helps the therapist gain a comprehensive understanding of the client's unique situation. I will discuss my therapeutic approaches I will use and answer any questions you my have. The initial session serves as an opportunity for you and I to establish rapport, set goals, and begin the collaborative process of working towards improved mental well-being
Having worked within the field for the last 8 years, as a trauma-informed therapist, I am acutely aware of the profound impact that past traumas can have on an individual's mental health. I approach my work with sensitivity, understanding, and a trauma-informed lens. This means recognizing the unique needs of clients who have experienced trauma, and tailoring my therapeutic approach to promote healing, resilience, and post-traumatic growth. I integrate EMDR, attachment, IFS, and schema to treat trauma and other various issues effectively.
The clients that I am best equipped to help are adults (18 and older) are interested in individual therapy and are willing to explore their past. The populations I treat typically have a history of trauma and experience symptoms such anxiety, depression, anger, etc., that are impairing their ability to function on a daily basis. I specialize in treating first responders, law enforcement, and those struggling with substance use disorders.
I use EMDR to treat: PTSD, trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, phobias, and anger.
I use attachment-based treatment, often in conjunction with EMDR, for those who struggle with childhood trauma, personality issues, anxiety, and codependency.
I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and to learn practical self-help strategies.
