I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Master's level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) in the State of Florida. I have been working in the field for 20+ years, and have experience with many types of client issues. I specialize in Co-Occurring Disorders and in Addiction. I work with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, addiction, grief and loss, trauma, change of life challenges, family and relationship issues.
The first session will be spent introducing ourselves, defining client goals and expectations for counseling, and identifying the issue(s) that brought you to seek counseling at this time.
Research has shown that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is the best predictor for a successful outcome. The most important element of my job is to create a safe, respectful, nonjudgmental environment that helps you explore your feelings and conflicts and achieve a new level of understanding and resolution. By creating an open, trusting and collaborative partnership, and utilizing evidence-based practices, I can help you to make conscious choices and practical behavioral changes that facilitate improved self-esteem; relieve anxiety, depression and social problems; and enhance the quality of your relationships. Together we will also identify your strengths, patterns, and coping skills.
I work with adults 18 years old and over who are are seeking help dealing with issues in their lives. They are motivated for change and are looking to learn coping skills to navigate their life challenges. I utilize multiple therapeutic techniques while emphasizing self care and mindfulness practices.
I have over 20 years experience using CBT in individual and group counseling, It helps clients learn how to reframe their thoughts and actions.
This has always been a part of my approach to counseling, It is asking open ended questions in a respectful manner that helps clients explore their issues.
