Just being comfortable in a space with someone and being able to unload your burdens is therapeutic in and of itself. Melissa prefers an eclectic style, pulling from many different modalities to find a technique or coping skill that will help you the most. She specializes helping children, teens and adults with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, child & adult ADHD, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder and Anger Management. She is committed to help you find your inner strengths to grow your mindset towards change and healing.
The first session with be the "getting to know you" session. There will be a lot of questions asked so I can understand your background/where you are coming from. You can also ask me questions as part of this process so we both can create a positive therapeutic relationship. I do my best to create a safe space, with unconditional positive regard for my clients so they can feel comfortable opening up.
I have more of an eclectic approach to therapy. Drawing from CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, emotive-relation, somatic, and other approaches, to tailor the therapeutic experience to the client's needs rather than a cookie-cutter therapy style. Not every treatment method works for every client. I believe it's important to meet the client where they are at and work together to create positive treatment goals.
I am best positioned to serve those that are ready for therapy and change. People who have already decided that therapy is the best place for them to deal with whatever they are going through and are willing/able to do the work to help themselves grow and change for their own betterment.
I have been using this treatment modality and adapting it to tailor therapy to each client for the last 5 years.
I have been using this treatment modality to help people manage their emotions and feelings for the alst 5 years and have found it very effective.
