My name is Elva Sanchez, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I was born in Lima-Peru and moved to moved to South Florida when I was 16 years old. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University and then continued to pursue my Master’s Degree at Carlos Albizu University. I love being a therapist and have the opportunity to help people create, build and obtain the best version of themselves.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, information about your background, family and possible goals for the session, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Elva uses different evidence-based approaches and is able to provide personalized and tailored sessions specific to the strengths and needs of her clients.
Elva has experience working with children with Autism, child behavioral interventions, and troubled teenagers. Elva has provided training and materials for parents on how to better handle children with behavioral issues. Elva is also a Certified Trauma Professional and has a vast experience working with domestic abuse survivors, crisis intervention, and hate crime survivors. Elva has worked with many couples and families from varying of cultural and economical backgrounds. She is comfortable conducting therapy in either English or Spanish.
I love working with a variety of client with different backgrounds and ages. I work to help clients achieve their best self and obtain the necessary tools to continue achieving their goals and overcome emotional barriers and obstacles in a mindful and caring way.
