About me

Hi! Jose here. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and deeply passionate about the work I do. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Florida International University in 2019 and became licensed in 2022. I have several years of experience in a community mental health agency, working with children, adolescents, and families, as well as providing crisis intervention for clients at high risk of psychiatric hospitalization. I also support adults navigating work-related stress, financial difficulties, PTSD, and trauma connected to their careers. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel empowered to heal, grow, and achieve lasting positive change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your story. I enjoy getting to know clients because we are all the main characters in the story of our lives, and I look forward to learning more about yours. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and begin developing a plan tailored to your needs. My hope is that you leave the session feeling heard, supported, and encouraged about the journey ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe in the importance of meeting clients where they are and making sure therapy works for them. I truly want this process to feel helpful and meaningful, so I adjust my approach to best match your needs, goals, and comfort level. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative journey, and I work hard to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to grow at your own pace.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with clients who are motivated to make changes but may feel uncertain about where to start. My approach is collaborative, focusing on meeting clients where they are, helping them feel understood, and guiding them toward building resilience, self-confidence, and healthier ways of coping.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as one of my main treatment approaches because I believe we are capable of adjusting how we perceive situations, which in turn influences how we feel and act. I strive in supporting clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, challenge them, and replace them with healthier perspectives. Through this process, clients learn practical coping skills and strategies they can apply outside of sessions, allowing them to manage stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and build long-term resilience.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a powerful tool that I implement to help clients explore their own values, goals, and motivations for change. I believe that each person already has the capacity for growth within them, and my role is to create a supportive and collaborative space where ambivalence can be resolved. By using open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations, I guide clients in strengthening their confidence and commitment to positive change. This approach empowers clients to take ownership of their progress, whether they are working on managing stress, building healthier habits, or navigating life transitions.
