It is such a pleasure to meet with you! I understand this might be a difficult time, but you are brave to reach out! As a former high school teacher in history and school counselor from all grade levels, from prekindergarten to high school, I have gained experience in working with kids, adolescents, adults, and families and coordinating with other agencies. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have worked with adolescents, adults, and couples in setting goals during difficulties and life transitions. My style of counseling is client-centered, as I believe you are the guiding factor to personal choices, and positive choices are essential for achieving, overcoming, and breakthroughs!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

If you are new to therapy, you might have many questions. This first session gives you the ability to talk about your current situation, your background and history, and your goals in moving forward, keeping the safe space in mind. This first session also allows for a connection with a therapist, as in a relationship with another person trust is essential, and a relationship may not be able to move forward without trust. Trust is built, and it is OK for this to take time, but it is also OK for you, as a client to feel comfortable with your therapist.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is empowering the client to use their strengths, qualities, gifts, and talents. During difficult times, these strengths, qualities, gifts, and talents might be difficult to recognize. Another area of strength as a provider is encouragement, and this might be a quality due to my experience as a school counselor and in working with populations with various disabilities. We are all essential and needed in our community and this world for our uniqueness!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a popular treatment method, and my experience with CBT is to assist and guide in the possible unhealthy habits that might have served a purpose at one point in life, and to discover new possibilities and thought directions to ultimately form healthy thought habits. The client is the one who is the deciding factor in the change, and this includes the identification of hindering behaviors (behavior), including thoughts (cognitive), to provide a therapeutic (therapy) experience that leads to healthy cognition.

Adlerian

Adlerian therapy is helpful in the identification of the whole person, and my experience with Adlerian therapy is to assist and guide the client to identify areas of life that are lacking, such as in community, relationships, spirituality, and health. The term "no man is an island" describes the need for human connections, as well as the importance of connecting with the inner man.

Faith based therapy

Faith based therapy, otherwise known as spiritual or Christian Counseling is a method that is important for clients who hold steadfast to spiritual beliefs. The client's believe is as integral and essential in therapy when seeking solace and direction.
