I try to create a collaborative relationship between myself and the client. I have the belief that our thoughts are directly connected to how we feel. By working with clients to solve present-day problems it helps the client approach a stronger and healthier sense of self by focusing on the actual lived experience of a person. By helping clients gradually face and come to realize that their assumptions, evaluations and beliefs might be unhealthy and unrealistic. Having the client be aware even after they have learned to recognize when and where their mental processes have gone wrong, it can in some cases take considerable time or effort to replace a dysfunctional process or habit with a more reasonable and adaptive one.

My frameworks for therapy are strengths based and solution focused, with an emphasis on improving confidence, self-worth, and self-esteem for all. I received my Bachelor’s from the University of Denver, and during my time there worked in resource advocacy for low income women and also led a self-esteem building group for teenage girls. I'm looking to partner with you to merge our strengths in order to discern which tools will be most effective in your journey. I have been working with children and their families my entire career. Since 2010, I have worked with children and their families as an intensive in-home counselor, a counselor and supervisor for therapeutic day treatment in the schools, an outpatient therapist and a residential treatment therapist. My Master of Social Work came from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. In addition, I have trained others in Suicide Prevention in order to break down the avoidance of conversation surrounding suicide. Prior to becoming a therapist, I graduated from Duke Divinity School with a Master of Religious Education, Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and worked in the church as a minister. While my worldview is Christian and I hope everyone can have a spiritual journey, I am respectful of various views. I look forward to walking with you as you move toward a more meaningful life.

My name is Aaron Farley, and I provide telehealth therapy to clients in Virginia. After completing my doctoral degree (PsyD) in 2010, I completed a 2 year fellowship in clinical neuropsychology. I have experience working with a wide variety of clients with numerous reasons for seeking therapy. I approach therapy from a collaborative perspective and work with the client to understand the unique strengths and challenges that have impacted the client's life. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help build a shared understanding of your life and goals for treatment. I am committed to providing a warm, respectful, and client-centered environment for treatment. Please do no hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need additional information.
