About me

Hello! I am an Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based out of Lynchburg VA where I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. For 4 years I have been practicing with this degree as well as practicing therapy techniques previously before receiving my degree. I focus on helping individuals challenge the parts of their life that cause the most distress and becoming empowered in order to continue practicing healthy coping and thought regulation. I strive to help those around me achieve a version on themselves that is less impacted by their struggles and more focused on their strengths.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I like to gather as much information as I can about my clients and find ways to express interests and connect with them. I also focus on the challenges being presented and showing that the client is being heard and there is an understanding of what is impacting their life. A personalized treatment plan with goals will be created that the client is a part of from start to finish because working as team is important in managing these challenges.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Over the last 4 years I have worked to strengthen my practice to be able to provide the best care focusing on core issues that impact clients and helping them reach their goals at their own pace. I provide motivation and understanding as well as being able to be direct with clients with helping on important factors impacting treatment and functioning. I pride myself on establishing good rapport with those I work with and making them feel comfortable even when topics can provide discomfort. I am always working to improve my competence in this field to continue to provide the best treatment I can for those I have the pleasure to work alongside.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

When trying to better oneself it can often be difficult without guidance and motivation to change the way we think and react to the world around us as well as ourselves. I enjoy being able to help clients overcome their anxiety about life and helping manage depression that impacts their ability to function effectively in life. Having a good support system and someone believing in your abilities to overcome adversity is one of the best ways to change our current situation and strive for positive change. I want to provide a supporting, validating space for those that are impacted negatively form their emotions and thoughts to show they are not alone as well as showing there is always a path forward.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT based practices to help clients accept where they are in reality and strive for change. I think it is very important to know where we are when it comes to our strengths and limitations before being able to proceed towards changing what is around us or ourselves. Acceptance and change help us focus on what we are in control of when it comes to improving relationships, coping and challenging ourselves to face adversity.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT based practices to help clients gain mindfulness through perspective building. Refocusing, Reframing and Challenging techniques are practiced to help overall mental well -being. I like to help clients gain these perspectives in order to change behavior patterns and manage emotions

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I like to use EFT based practices to help clients gain a better connection as well as an understanding with themselves with how they feel and process emotions. I also help clients with being able to form more secure attachments either with themselves or with others where emotions can be effectively expressed and emotionally regulated.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use Mindfulness-Based practices to help clients challenge unhelpful thought processing and being more kind to the individual self. This is through self awareness and not avoiding or suppressing unwanted thoughts but instead processing them in a healthy, safe manner.

Trauma Informed Care

I use Trauma Informed Care practices to help clients understand their trauma and the correlating effects it can have on their present life. Being able to recognize that trauma exists and how we respond to it is key in order to build strength as well as resilience to manage the impacts trauma related events can cause.
