We are all responsible for our own choices, and some people are responsible for making choices for others. As these choices can become daunting, there is change happening within that comes with the choices that are made. This is what make us unique. This is what makes us authentic. When life becomes daunting, it can become really hard to ask for help, yet when that choice is made, the first steps to making authentic changes in your life has begun. My goal is to assist individuals with achieving an authentic life, embracing the good, bad, and the ugly that happens. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor servicing the state of Virginia via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, coping skills, life transitions, and stress management. I primarily use Existential Therapy coupled with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to assist my clients with achieving their goals for therapy.
After the initial consultation, you will have an idea of what frequency and days and times work best for you. Using this information, we can expect our first session together to be taking time to discuss how you’ve been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
I offer clients a calm, passionate, and understanding environment. My communication patterns are humorous when necessary, direct, and personable. I strive to make sure my clients feel comfortable and open during each and every session. I pride myself on my non-judgemental active listening skills.
I have found that my approach is best suited for individuals who are willing to apply the changes needed. Through the stress of daily life, traumas experienced in the past, and new/current issues that arise, clients who are open to discussing their concerns and successes often find success with the approach taken. I work to help my clients navigate life transition periods by building skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more authentic approach to being who they truly are in healthier ways.
Faith Tunstall offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
My approach to therapy is based on what each client needs. Using Existential Therapy, clients and I can begin visualizing what their responsibilities are and the choices of freedom they want to apply to their lives.
With CBT and SFBT, I assist clients with breaking down their concerns and attaching new thoughts and behaviors that can be used to help clients move forward and offer solutions tailored to the therapeutic goals established when therapy begins.
