Hello and welcome! I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker based in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula—and yes, I’m a proud Yooper! I’ve worked with clients across all stages of life, but I’m especially passionate about supporting older adults as they navigate the often-overlooked challenges of midlife and beyond. Whether you’re facing an “empty nest,” retirement, late-in-life divorce, family role changes, or just a general sense of feeling stuck, I offer a safe, supportive space where you can reflect, rediscover your strengths, and create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling. My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. In addition to my work with older adults, I have experience serving veterans, children, and families in both rural and urban settings. I’d be honored to walk alongside you in whatever chapter you’re navigating next.

Gabriela Vega is a dedicated mental health therapist who specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is credentialed to treat Substance Use Disorders (SUD). Her earlier and current clients have presented with Borderline Personality, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, General Anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. She has over a decade of experience in the human services field, with significant experience addressing the concerns of seniors, their families, and the diverse populations of Saint Clair and Macomb Counties. Gabriela emigrated to the United States from Peru at the age of 14, shortly after her father lost his battle with leukemia. She grew up in a challenging and impoverished community in Florida, facing significant difficulties and barriers. She started school in Florida as a native Spanish-speaking teenager, having to learn English as a new middle school student. At the age of 16, Gabriela became a single mother, which profoundly changed her life. Despite the many challenges she faced, including a lack of family support, experiences of violence, and minor run-ins with the law, Gabriela persevered. She obtained her GED and ultimately graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ferris University, later earning a Master's degree from Wayne State University. She had entered Wayne State University to continue her education after again becoming a single parent following her divorce, and re-entering the workforce. Her journey is an expression of personal resilience and determination. Gabriela credits much of her strength and her desire to become a therapist to her older sister, Juli’s experiences coming out as non-binary at the age of seven. This experience taught Gabriela valuable lessons about love and acceptance, as well as the harsh realities of societal prejudice early on. This bond continued until Juli died in 2021. Gabriela later survived the untimely death of her twenty-year-old daughter, persevering for herself and her teenage son.

I believe in therapy as someone who has done my own clinical work since I was in my mid-twenties. I grew up in NJ and moved to Michigan to attend college and have been here since that time. I spent the first part of my career working in the foster care system with children and adolescents which I really enjoyed. That gave me a great foundation for working with the adult issues of attachment, child developmental stages that were not accomplished and struggles with current relationships. I do a lot of work with people who were raised by narcissistic parents, people who are dealing with cancer diagnosis and those with chronic or life threatening illnesses. I work with people who are addressing childhood trauma, sexual abuse or emotional abuse. I have worked with adoptees who are seeking understanding of themselves and their past. I do a lot of work with individuals transitioning from a divorce situation and all the adjustments that this involves especially in coparenting situations. I find people and their life experiences fascinating and always worth unpacking and investigating to gain a better understanding of the self as a whole being; there is always something new to learn.

I am a Christian Therapist delivering Evidence-Based Psychotherapy backed by Neuroscience with an ultimate healing approach. I am a perfect match for clients who wish to have such a blend. My passion is fueled by my Faith in Jesus Christ and the incredible desire to help others break through what has been holding them back. In life, I have dealt with my own childhood traumas, toxic adult relationships, and uncomfortable experiences in life. My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, saved me through the Holy Spirit, and God has delivered me to a place of healing. I am an overcomer & a warrior. As a warrior, I have dedicated my career to caring for those with broken hearts and spirits. Guiding individuals to reclaim healing & wholeness which is their birth right. I enjoy helping individuals obtain their freedom from oppression, depression, confusion, despair, fear, trauma, and the lack of not foresight on how to live life. My goal is to equip the unequipped with the tools to function abundantly. I plan to help you get out of the cycle life has you in, help you strengthen your internal compass, reflect & identify areas of entrapment, while setting appropriate boundaries so that you gain power & control over your life.

I'm a therapist who understands that everyone's mind works differently. I pride myself on being kind but I'm also very real. I love to laugh and am curious about just about everything in life. I enjoy living in the moment and I am definitely an animal person. I spent 25 years teaching horseback riding lessons, so I understand the equestrian lifestyle. I rescue not only mammals but bugs and bees too. I'm an elder goth and have a passion for listening to music. I am always rooting for the underdog. I want to work with you if you are between the ages of 25 and 55 and struggle with anxious attachment, people pleasing, setting boundaries, feeling triggered, anger, anxiety, depression, co-dependence, parenting issues, and ADD/ ADHD. These symptoms and attachment style are often related to each other and often related to similar childhood experiences of inconstant or abusive/neglectful caregivers. (ADD and ADHD is not cause by caregivers, however, when it goes undiagnosed in children, there is s strong correlation to symptoms described above)

The great poet Rumi wrote "out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." That field is a space where calm, love and forgiveness exist. There is no judgement, only acceptance here. And in that soul space you are free to find those fragments of you that are lost, and begin to piece them back together. I'm licensed in both Florida and Michigan. As a licensed clinical therapist and licensed substance abuse counselor, I have experience running very powerful substance abuse and co-occurring groups. Prior to that, I worked as a social worker in Flint, Michigan for many years as a therapist, caseworker and in crisis intervention. My experiences have given me such a rich experience and exposure to the many factors that contribute to our personal mental health and well-being. I've been fortunate to work with people in their homes, in the community, with their families as well as the private practice setting which have given me a much richer experience than just an of an office setting alone.

Hello and welcome! I'm glad you're taking this step to seek out support for yourself. A little about me: I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field and am committed to supporting my clients as they work to make meaningful change. I have experience working with clients of all ages, from young children to older adults. My areas of specialty include anxiety, grief, supporting clients through periods of transition such as middle-age and retirement, as well as assisting professionals who are struggling with feelings of exhaustion and burn-out. I also work with clients who are dealing with serious health issues. I tend to use an eclectic approach in my practice, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also augment these traditional modalities with the use of somatic therapies, such as yoga and mindfulness practices, to achieve a more holistic approach to wellness.
