I work with people of all ages who are trying to get the most out of their relationships and are finding that anxiety keeps getting in the way of feeling confident with others or at school. Having healthy relationships is the cornerstone of a balanced life. You know that there is no better time to resolve these issues of insecurity than now. I can help. If you are feeling isolated because of your anxiety you are not alone. Many people struggle with anxiety and negative thinking and counseling can help! People who work with me tend to feel relief right away. They learn skills to manage anxious thoughts and feelings, gain confidence, and feel more secure in relationships. With counseling you can look forward to being more confident expressing yourself, feeling more fulfilled in relationships, and gaining control of your worry.

I love to work with people who are willing to think, to consider new ideas, to examine themselves honestly, and to try new behaviors. This is exciting! I love people who allow me the occasional moment of silence so that I can prepare a question that fits their unique personality and situation. I love working with people who are excited about working on things throughout the week and will give me honest feedback as to how effective that idea was for them. And i find it very enjoyable to work with someone who can articulate what they believe their issue is and what they think they need to do to overcome (either by increasing or decreasing a behavior) their problem (even if it takes a few sessions to get there). it's great to work with people who will do their best to give a new idea a shot. All that being said, everyone has their up days and down days. We wouldn't be human if we didn't. Being willing to let me walk alongside of them on those days, as well as the good days, humbles me because of their trust. Therapy can be work, and change doesn't fall into our laps. But it is possible, and in many cases, in order to experience abundant living, very necessary. Finally, I really enjoy working with people who, even as they identify a tendency, a personality trait, a reaction, or a thought process that may be related to childhood or adult trauma or abuse, will also look for ways to overcome its impact on them instead of being content to sit in its shade and let themselves be bested by it.

Hello, my name is Valarie James, and I am a licensed therapist with a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges while building healthier, more fulfilling lives. I bring a unique approach to counseling by integrating traditional therapeutic methods with wellness practices that honor the connection between mind and body. With dual master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Health, as well as extensive training in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I am committed to providing compassionate, personalized care to each client I serve. I work with adults across diverse backgrounds who are seeking support for issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also have experience providing couples counseling, helping partners strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and develop deeper connections. My practice is inclusive and client-centered—I aim to create a safe, affirming space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore new possibilities for growth. The clients I serve often share that therapy with me has given them the tools to break free from cycles of negative thinking, heal from past wounds, and cultivate healthier habits in both mind and body. Whether it’s guiding a client through the weight of trauma with EMDR, teaching practical CBT strategies to manage stress, or supporting couples as they reconnect, my goal is always to help clients uncover their strengths and move forward with resilience. The impact I strive to have is simple yet profound: to empower individuals and couples to live with more clarity, balance, and confidence. I believe healing is not only possible—it’s within reach when you have the right support. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.

Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) based in Michigan, but I also serve individuals in Virginia. I received my Masters from Widener University in 2021. I have worked in many different settings, providing mental health treatment to individuals. Some of these settings are inpatient behavioral health units, outpatient group therapy programs, and community-based settings. I have a wide array of treatment models that I have learned over the years, utilizing these with my clients to help them explore their thoughts and feelings while providing a healing environment. I now provide individual therapy to adults, adolescents and children. I also possess a Bachelor in Recreational Therapy from Central Michigan University, earned in 2009. I worked as a Recreational Therapist for over 15 years, working with children with developmental disabilities in the community, and then transitioned to working with adults and children's in various mental health settings. I continue to encourage a healthy leisure lifestyle with my clients, discussing the importance of self-care, self-esteem and cultivating self-worth. Having fun and finding the joy in life is a part of healing from a mental health crisis. If the times on my schedule don't work for you, please make an appointment and message me with a better time and/or day and I can change. I am able to see clients during the day but on a limited schedule. I always try to be as flexible as I can to meet the needs of my clients. :-) No show policy: All I ask is to be communicated with, even last minute. I know life can happen pretty quickly but without any communication, it is a $100 cancellation fee.

Hello, My name is Jennifer Bardon, a LCSW certified professional in the state of Michigan. Social work and behavioral therapy are my passions because helping others is truly what motivates and rewards me the most. Since receiving a BSW (Bachelors, Social Work) and MSW (Masters, Social Work) from Wayne State University, Detroit, nearly six years ago, I have been developing and practicing methods to better understand the human condition and how to modify it to help others through personal conflicts and struggles from insecurities, anxiety, depression, self esteem and so much more. Incorporating mindfulness techniques to assist clients with centering themselves, and focusing on the present, as well as challenging negative thoughts, is one of my many strengths. I have experience with working with children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities. As a clinician that practices Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) certified professional, you can be confident I have the skill-set necessary to work with a diverse array of clients. My focus is "You" the individual, and I encourage all my clients to help assist in utilizing and engaging in the recommended treatments thus giving them needed satisfaction in their own successes. Note: Evenings and weekends are open for clients who have a busy work week or find those times most convenient.
