I believe self-care should be a priority for everyone. Self-care can include setting limits for yourself or identifying strategies to manage your stress. It can ultimately lead to living your best life. I am independently licensed as a social worker in Ohio and Michigan, since earning my Master's Degree in Social Work in 2007, and I'm board certified through the ABECSW. I have been working in the helping field for 30 years, and have worked with many individuals who have health problems, mental health problems, or are caregivers for individuals who have health and/or mental health problems.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first meeting, clients can expect for us to get to know each other and to talk about your ideal life. We will talk about your challenges and dreams, as you create a roadmap to achieve those dreams for your best life. As with all my clients in the past and present, you will be welcomed, seen, and heard.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I enjoy hearing people tell their stories and then helping them achieve the endings they seek. I'm affirming in treatment and really believe in people and doing all I can to help them. Skills I use to help include meditation, as well as more traditional therapy skills such as CBT, brief, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy. In my practice, I like to learn about you before I plan what interventions to use because everyone is unique.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Trained in CBT, we use this to reduce your anxiety, depression and other problems. I've seen this method help people feel more calm and happy many times.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling is the method we will use to improve your relationship by gaining better understanding of one another's viewpoint while building trust and respect for one another. I use this often to help people improve their communication and feel better appreciated within their relationships.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is one way I can help you improve your connections to your daily life, and have better interactions with others in your life. We can use mindfulness together to make all areas of your life feel more in line with what you want rather than feeling like you are just getting through your days.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a way to help unblock your progress towards living the life you want, by finding out where you are on the road to changing your behaviors. Motivational interviewing is useful when you are feeling stuck.

Narrative

Narrative therapy helps me learn a little of your history and background so we can talk more about rewriting what's next for you. This is how you tell me your story and what you think is important in how your past might be affecting you right now, and it helps both of us know more about how you see your present self and your future self.
