Jose luis Orozco
My name is Jose Luis Orozco, Jr., and I’m a licensed professional counselor with a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges and discover their strengths. With a background in education, counseling, and community work, I bring a compassionate, culturally aware, and client-centered approach to therapy. Whether you’re facing stress, life transitions, or deeper emotional struggles, my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, valued, and empowered to grow.
First session
Our first session is all about getting to know you — your story, your goals, and what brought you to therapy. We'll talk about what you’re hoping to gain from our work together, and I’ll ask some questions to better understand your experiences, background, and any current challenges you're facing. This is also your chance to ask me questions, share any concerns, and set the pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you feel safe, respected, and supported from the start. We’ll move at your rhythm — there’s no pressure, just a beginning to what I hope will be a meaningful journey toward healing and growth.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to connect with clients in a genuine, compassionate, and culturally sensitive way. With a background in education, counseling, and community leadership, I bring a well-rounded perspective to therapy that helps clients feel understood — not just as individuals, but within the context of their families, cultures, and communities. I’m bilingual and bicultural, which allows me to serve clients in both English and Spanish, and to honor the unique experiences of those navigating multiple cultural identities. My approach is client-centered and flexible — I draw from evidence-based methods like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care, while always tailoring our work to fit your unique needs and goals. I’m here to listen, support, and challenge you in the ways that help you grow, heal, and move forward.
Ideal clients
I work best with individuals and families who are seeking a safe, supportive space to explore life’s challenges and create meaningful change. Many of my clients are navigating stress, anxiety, cultural or generational transitions, identity questions, family dynamics, or the pressures of being first-generation in their communities. I’m especially passionate about supporting the Latino/a/x community and those who may feel caught between cultures or expectations. Whether you’re working through a specific issue or just feeling stuck, my goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths, clarify your goals, and move forward with confidence and self-compassion.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
As a School counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor I have utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to helps clients understand how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. If we learn to change unhelpful thoughts, we can feel better and make healthier choices.
