Hi, I'm Marion Davis, LMSW, and I would love to be your therapist! Have you been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or simply not like yourself lately? Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or life's everyday challenges, you don't have to face it alone.

I will bring authenticity, compassion, clinical knowledge, and a genuine commitment to helping people improve their emotional well-being.

I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space to be heard. My approach is compassionate, person-centered, and focused on meeting you where you are. I'm here to listen, encourage you, and walk alongside you at your own pace. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Wayne State University, have over nine years of experience in mental health, and hold a certificate in Mental Health and Wellness with an emphasis in Grief and Bereavement from Grand Canyon University. My goal isn't to change who you are, but to help you rediscover yourself, recognize your strengths, and find your way forward. You deserve to feel heard, supported, and most importantly, like yourself again. I'd be honored to be part of your healing journey.

First session

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you've never been before or have had a difficult experience with therapy in the past. I want you to know that our first session is about getting to know each other and helping you feel comfortable. During our first session, we'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you've been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our time together. I'll ask some questions to better understand your background, challenges, and goals, but there is no pressure to share anything you're not ready to discuss. I believe in allowing my clients to lead the conversation at their own pace. You don't have to come prepared with the perfect words or know exactly what you want to work on. Sometimes, simply showing up is the first step. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, supported, and comfortable knowing that you have a safe space to be yourself. Remember, therapy is your journey. I'm just here to walk alongside you, one session at a time.

Strengths

One of the greatest strengths I will bring to my therapy practice is my ability to connect with people on a personal level while maintaining professionalism and healthy boundaries. I genuinely care about the people I work with, and I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I bring over nine years of experience in the mental health field, working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and other life challenges. My experience as an Intake Therapist has strengthened my ability to assess clients' needs, build rapport, recognize their strengths, and meet them where they are emotionally. Another strength I bring is empathy developed through my own life experiences. Having experienced significant grief and loss, I understand that healing is not always straightforward and that people process difficult situations differently. These experiences have taught me patience, compassion, and the importance of not rushing someone's healing process. I also believe my honesty, active listening skills, and willingness to challenge clients when appropriate will benefit my practice. I want my clients to feel comfortable being themselves while also encouraging them to recognize patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and work toward meaningful change. Most importantly, I understand that therapy is not about me having all the answers. It is about helping clients discover their own strengths and ability to move forward. I will bring authenticity, compassion, clinical knowledge, and a genuine commitment to helping people improve their emotional well-being.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is anyone who is ready to take the first step toward improving their mental health, even if they are unsure where to begin. I enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or major life transitions. I understand that not everyone comes to therapy knowing exactly what they need or what they want to work on, and that is okay. I welcome clients who may feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, emotionally exhausted, or simply need a safe space to talk. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment. My approach is to meet people where they are, allow them to move at their own pace, and provide support while also encouraging personal growth. My ideal client is not someone who has everything figured out. It is someone who is willing to explore their experiences, learn more about themselves, and work toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I believe that the way we think can influence how we feel and respond to situations, and sometimes we develop negative thought patterns without even realizing it. In our sessions, we will work together to identify unhelpful thoughts, explore how they affect your emotions and behaviors, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to life's challenges. I may incorporate coping strategies, problem-solving techniques, journaling, and practical exercises that you can use outside of therapy. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs. I understand that changing long-standing patterns takes time, so we will work at a pace that feels comfortable while still encouraging growth. My goal is to help you develop the tools, confidence, and self-awareness needed to manage challenges, improve your emotional well-being, and create lasting positive changes in your life.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their thoughts, feelings, and motivations for making positive changes in their lives. I believe that meaningful change happens when individuals feel empowered to make their own decisions rather than feeling pressured or judged. During our sessions, I create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can openly discuss your challenges, uncertainties, and personal goals. Through active listening, open-ended questions, and thoughtful reflection, I help you identify what matters most to you, explore any mixed feelings about change, and recognize your own strengths. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I understand that change can be difficult and that not everyone is ready to take the same steps at the same time. I will meet you where you are, respect your decisions, and help you build confidence in your ability to move forward. My goal is to help you discover your own motivation for change, overcome barriers, and take meaningful steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use Person-Centered Therapy to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role as your therapist is to listen, understand, and support you as you navigate your personal challenges. During our sessions, I focus on building a genuine therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, honesty, and respect. I allow you to take the lead in conversations while providing encouragement, understanding, and guidance when needed. I understand that everyone processes emotions and experiences differently, so I meet you where you are without rushing your healing process. My approach emphasizes your strengths, personal experiences, and ability to make meaningful changes in your life. I want you to feel heard, valued, and accepted without fear of judgment. My goal is to help you develop greater self-awareness, build confidence, and recognize your ability to grow, heal, and create a life that feels meaningful to you.
