Hello ! I am Sergio Fernando Gueller, LCSW, I am an American citizen and love our Blessed country with all my heart; I am also an immigrant from Latin America, Argentina, who arrived to this country at age 19 (I am currently 65), "tired and poor" and escaping an unstable political environment and difficult socioeconomic perspectives. I completed my training in Europe and Latin America through my participation in many seminars and obtaining several certifications in this field, however, all my formal education took place in California and Oregon, in the USA. My approach to psychotherapy is eclectic and practical and am focused on providing immediate alleviation and crisis resolution to my clients via powerful cognitive/behavioral tools which I use daily in my practice. I am a simple person and my approach is formal and respectful, however, I use respectful/sensitive humor and levity therapeutically when appropriate as I believe it is a major part of my method.

Hi, I’m Andrea, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist originally from Costa Rica. I specialize in working with young children and their caregivers, helping families navigate emotional, behavioral, and relationship challenges with greater confidence, connection, and understanding. Many of the families I work with are feeling overwhelmed by frequent meltdowns, anxiety, behavioral concerns, school difficulties, or the lasting effects of stressful and traumatic experiences. My approach is rooted in the belief that children thrive when they feel safe, understood, and connected to the important adults in their lives. Rather than focusing only on a child’s symptoms or behaviors, I work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to strengthen relationships, build emotional regulation skills, and create lasting change within the family system. With specialized training in trauma, attachment, play therapy, and PC-CARE, I provide an integrative and family-centered approach that supports both children and their caregivers. I am known for being warm, engaged, and deeply invested in the families I work with. I strive to create a supportive space where parents feel empowered and children feel seen, valued, and understood. As a bilingual therapist and someone who understands the experience of navigating different cultures, I bring cultural sensitivity and curiosity into my work. My goal is to help families move beyond survival mode and build stronger, healthier, and more connected relationships.

Hey, I'm Olivia! Are you ready to laugh, cry and create a connection with someone who is not going to give you cookie-cutter responses? Then keep reading. I am passionate about creating a safe space for my clients to throw it all out on the table, be met with compassion and validation and begin to piece together what they want to keep and what they want to toss. Many times in our lives, we put on certain identities and expectations that may not be ours but we keep them on out of comfort, fear, habit, you name it. I am here to help you sift through the pieces of you that you know but also become curious about the parts of yourself that you do not know. During that process, you can begin to find power in your choices and practice the art of being able to decide for yourself who it is you want to be. The stories you have come to believe about yourself are worth exploring and together, we can build a relationship where I will challenge those beliefs with you and assist you in building confidence to shift into your most authentic and understood self.

I offer a space where your pain can soften, your story can unfold gently, and you can be met with warmth and compassion without judgment. I draw from CBT, TF-CBT, MI, mindfulness, and person-centered, holistic practices — not as rigid techniques, but as tools we weave into the moments when you need grounding, clarity, or a way to steady yourself. Over time, your voice gets stronger. Your patterns make more sense. And the parts of you that learned to survive begin to feel safe enough to soften.

Although I utilize various therapeutic approaches, I chiefly consider myself to be a narrative/Rogerian therapist. This means that I work to help my patients take back the power and control over their own stories and assist them by co-authoring a narrative that truly witnesses and respects their traumas, tragedies, injustices, achievements, triumphs, milestones, strengths, and resiliency. I do this while holding empathy, congruency and unconditional positive regard as my three major tenants in the therapeutic alliance. I specialize in therapy for: adult individuals suffering depression, anxiety, interpersonal/relational difficulties, traumatic grief, suicide loss, relational and attachment traumas, victims of psychological torture/emotional abuse/brainwashing, adult children of narcissists, sufferers of paranormal traumas, military and first-responder trauma, vegans, LGBTQIA+, adults with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Developmental disabilities (DD), people struggling with life stressors, and those struggling with identity.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply seeking clarity, therapy can be a place to slow down and reconnect with yourself. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you strengthen resilience, deepen insight, and move toward the life and relationships you want with yourself and others. I welcome clients from diverse cultural, spiritual, and relational backgrounds, and I am committed to creating an inclusive, affirming therapeutic environment. If you're ready to begin, I’d be honored to support you.

Couples: I am TAKING Couples again. However only on Cash Pay basis. This is how it will work: You can schedule with me an hour consultation, you don't both have to be present, for this Consultation. From there we will meet 5 to 6 times for 1.5 hour sessions. It is very difficult to have Couples sessions within 60 min. The Cash pay is $250.00 for the 1.5 hour sessions. I understand the cost can be a deterrent in seeking help, however if you are both committed to doing the work 5 to 6 sessions should be productive and enough to see changes. Individuals: Of course I am still taking individuals that are or are not in a relationship and need help. We were never taught how to be in a relationship of any kind. Yes there are tons of books of how to, however to put them to practical use can be very difficult. This can also relate to a relationship with a family member, friends or co-workers. Sometimes our own mental health can influence all of our relationships, and you may need coping techniques for anxiety and or depression type symptoms. I will work with you individually to help you gain insight to your own behavior that may be influencing your relationship. I am here to help with coping strategies for anxiety and depression symptoms or learning how to communicate more effectively with others.

Beginning therapy is often a decision made after much thought and courage. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming space where you can feel understood, explore what’s no longer working, and begin creating meaningful change. I believe in helping clients discover their inner strength, build resiliency, and develop the tools needed to move toward the life they hope to create. I completed my BA in Psychology at California State University, Northridge, and my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles. I live in Ventura, California, where I enjoy being outdoors and in the sun—appreciating the balance and renewal that I also encourage clients to cultivate in their own lives.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not like yourself lately, you’re not alone! Hi, I'm Dr. Griffiths - a clinical psychologist who works with children, teens, and adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. Reaching out for support can be difficult, and my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and not alone in what you’re going through. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents, and I also enjoy supporting adults as they navigate life transitions, stress, and emotional challenges. I work with concerns including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self-harm, eating disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. I’ve also worked in higher levels of care and with individuals transitioning from recent hospitalization, which has deepened my understanding of how important it is to feel supported during vulnerable times. My approach is person-centered and collaborative. I meet you where you are and tailor therapy to your unique needs and goals. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help with emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and building healthier relationships. Whether you’re seeking support for something specific or just know that something doesn’t feel quite right, therapy can be a place to better understand yourself and begin making meaningful changes. I’d be honored to be part of that process with you.

Understanding anxiety treatment options in San Diego, CA

Anxiety treatment has evolved significantly over the years, and today there are numerous evidence-based approaches that can effectively help you manage and overcome anxiety symptoms. The good news is that you have options – from traditional talk therapy methods to newer, innovative techniques, there’s likely a treatment approach that will resonate with your learning style and personal preferences. Below are some of the most common and effective therapeutic approaches our San Diego, CA therapists use to help clients find relief from anxiety.

Examples of evidence-based approaches

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): A commonly used method for anxiety treatment, CBT helps you identify and challenge negative thought patterns while developing practical coping strategies. Many of our San Diego, CA therapists specialize in CBT techniques specifically adapted for anxiety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Particularly effective for anxiety with emotional regulation challenges, DBT combines cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices to help you manage intense emotions and reduce anxiety symptoms.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Incorporating meditation and awareness of the present moment, this approach helps you develop a healthier relationship with anxious thoughts and feelings rather than fighting against them.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT focuses on accepting anxiety while committing to actions aligned with your values, helping you live a fulfilling life despite anxious feelings.

Specialized anxiety treatment areas

Our San Diego, CA therapists have expertise in treating various anxiety-related issues, including:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder: Persistent, excessive worry about everyday situations
  • Social anxiety: Fear of social situations and being judged by others
  • Panic disorder: Recurring panic attacks and fear of future episodes
  • Specific phobias: Intense fear of particular objects, situations, or activities

How to find the right anxiety therapist in San Diego, CA

What to look for in an anxiety therapist

Credentials and experience: Look for licensed therapists (e.g. LMFT, LICSW/LCSW, LPCC, or psychologists) with specific training in anxiety. When searching the Grow Therapy online therapy platform, you will see a clear display of each therapist’s credentials, years of experience, and specialty areas.

Therapeutic approach alignment: Consider which therapeutic approaches resonate with you. Some people prefer structured, skills-based approaches like CBT, while others may benefit from more exploratory or mindfulness-based methods.

To find a therapist by treatment method, you can use the “Treatment Methods” filter above. You may also double check a therapist’s treatment methods by viewing the “My treatment method” section on their profile page. To learn more about the types of therapy available, check out our guide on the different types of therapy.

Availability and scheduling: Choose a therapist whose schedule aligns with yours. Many of our San Diego, CA providers offer both virtual and in-person sessions, providing flexibility for your busy lifestyle.

Insurance acceptance: Verify that your preferred therapist accepts your insurance plan. We make this easy by showing accepted insurances for each therapist.

Overcoming common barriers to anxiety treatment

Cost concerns: Many people worry about the cost of therapy, but with insurance coverage and a large network of in-person and online therapists on Grow Therapy who accept various plans, treatment can be more affordable than you think. We’re here to help you understand your benefits and find cost-effective options.

Time constraints: Anxiety often makes daily tasks feel overwhelming, and finding time for therapy can seem impossible. Our flexible scheduling options, including evening and weekend appointments, plus virtual sessions, make it easier to prioritize your mental health.

Stigma and privacy: It’s natural to feel hesitant about seeking help, but remember that anxiety is a treatable mental health condition. At Grow Therapy, we have built our online therapy platform to prioritize your privacy and connect you with understanding professionals who create safe, judgment-free spaces.

Finding the right fit: Not every therapist is the right match for every person, and that’s okay. Our detailed provider profiles and filtering options help you find someone who aligns with your preferences and needs. If you find the provider you choose is not the right fit, Grow Therapy makes it easy to switch and find a new provider who better fits your needs and what you’re seeking in your care.

Getting started with anxiety therapy in San Diego, CA

What to expect in your first session

Your first therapy session is designed to help you and your therapist get to know each other and begin understanding your anxiety experiences. Your therapist will likely ask about:

  • Your current anxiety symptoms and triggers
  • How anxiety impacts your daily life
  • Your personal and family mental health history
  • Your goals for treatment
  • Any previous therapy experiences

This initial session is also your opportunity to ask questions about the therapeutic process, your therapist’s approach, and what you can expect moving forward. To learn more about the therapy process, check out our guide to going to therapy.

Preparing for your anxiety treatment journey

Questions to Ask Your Therapist:

  • What is your experience helping people who have signs of anxiety?
  • What therapeutic approaches do you use for anxiety?
  • How long does treatment typically take?
  • What can I do between sessions to support my progress?
  • How will we measure progress?

Setting realistic expectations: Anxiety treatment is a process, not a quick fix. While many people experience some relief early in treatment, developing lasting coping skills and seeing significant symptom reduction typically takes time and consistent effort.

Developing coping strategies: Your therapist will work with you to develop personalized coping strategies that you can use both in and outside of your sessions. These might include breathing exercises, grounding techniques, challenging unhelpful thoughts, or mindfulness practices.

Insurance and affordability for anxiety treatment in San Diego, CA

Making therapy accessible

Insurance coverage options: Many major insurance plans cover mental health treatment, including therapy for anxiety. Our San Diego, CA therapists accept a wide range of insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and many others. Insurance providers do vary by state, however, so please verify that your insurance is available in California.

Understanding your benefits: We help you understand your mental health benefits, including copays, deductibles, and coverage limits. This transparency allows you to make informed decisions about your care. To learn more about how therapy and insurance work together, check out our guide to understanding insurance for therapy.

Additional support options: For those without insurance or with limited coverage, many of our therapists offer cash options, and employee assistance programs (EAPs) through your workplace may also provide free or low-cost counseling sessions.
