Hello, I'm Marisa I am here to help you heal, accept, prosper, and lay down any burdens that have kept you feeling stuck. I provide a safe space for authenticity, vulnerability, and alliance as we have all experienced times of feeling misunderstood, lost, and alone. As a social worker, I take a holistic approach, considering your physical, psychological, and social well-being to best personalize what you need in our sessions. I specialize in developmental and relational trauma, grief and loss, and self-exploration. Trauma and grief change our patterns of thinking, and views of ourselves and the world around us. Together, we can develop psychological flexibility, alter behaviors that are holding you back, and implement security back into your life. I have predominately worked with transitional-aged youth, adults, and older adults with a wide spectrum of difficulties and hardships. I'm here to hear your story, support your goals, and help you uncover the "unseen" barriers that stand in your way. I utilize trauma-informed approaches and behavioral techniques to help you master skills, edit unhelpful narratives, and feel empowered to navigate life's inevitable stressors. I use a mind/body approach so that we can uncover root causes, learn greater nervous system regulation, and create healthy lifestyle habits to achieve the sustainable equilibrium you are searching for. Whether you are dealing with unprocessed loss and trauma, emotional disturbances, interpersonal challenges, or self-doubt, I'm here to collaborate with you to find peace and purpose. In our sessions, I will integrate mindfulness, psychoeducation, skill-building, curiosity, and compassion. Let's work together to redefine the parts of yourself that no longer serve you and create a meaningful life based on your values.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will have a chance to introduce ourselves and build rapport. I will perform a biopsychosocial assessment to best understand your challenges, presenting issues, and needs to tailor a personalized treatment plan.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My biggest strength is trauma care, mind/body practices, and helping individuals reconnect to a sense of security, peace, and trust within themselves and the world around them. I actively listen, engage, and will accompany you on this path. My therapeutic approach is one of authenticity. I'm a human being who understands human struggles.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Adult population who is seeking to heal from developmental and/or relational trauma. An individual who needs help discovering feelings of "stuckness" and how to adapt with healthier behaviors. Someone who is looking to improve the relationship with themselves and others. I'm here for you!

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and find that this modality has wonderful benefits for individuals experiencing various mental health barriers, looking for meaning and purpose in their lives, and getting "unstuck".

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I am working on getting trained in this specialty to help individuals process past trauma, edit beliefs that are holding them back, heal parts of themselves that are tied to the story of trauma, and move forward with growth and confidence.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I have training in IFS and consider myself IFS-informed. I believe we all have parts of self that deserve a deeper understanding in order to be set free. The more we get to know ourselves, the more we feel calm, confident and secure. Parts work helps healing with our innate capabilities and self-energy.

She is SO smart, and is the first therapist EVER to really help me get to the root of things, and begin to learn how to deal with them. I am so grateful for Marisa!

Marisa is open and warm. She brings not only an authentic, wholistic approach to therapy, but is also knowledgeable in different methods and modalities, and has a kind nature. She regularly challenges and empowers me, and her solution-oriented approach is a welcome reprieve from providers who would while away hours of my life simply talking about problems without seeing growth or investment of agency.
