Hi, I’m Cathleen Huet, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in San Diego, California. I provide telehealth therapy to clients throughout California. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 and have been working in the social work field for over five years. My professional experience spans a variety of settings, including hospitals, homeless services, reentry programs, and inpatient psychiatric care. These diverse experiences have shaped a compassionate, grounded approach to therapy, allowing me to meet clients with empathy, understanding, and respect for their unique life experiences.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, I’ll ask a variety of questions to help me get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping to gain from this process, and together we’ll begin identifying goals that feel meaningful and supportive for you. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, get a sense of my approach, and decide whether we’re a good fit.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients have shared that working with me feels like talking to someone they’ve known for a long time. I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable opening up and sharing more about your life at your own pace. I work collaboratively with you to identify patterns that may be holding you back and use a solution-focused approach to help you build practical tools early on. My goal is to support you in making meaningful changes that lead to feeling more empowered, balanced, and at ease in your daily life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adults who are navigating life transitions and feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure about what comes next. This may include managing increased stress, adjusting to changes in relationships or work, or moving through a period where life feels uncertain or out of balance. I also support individuals who are exploring their relationship with substances—whether that means pursuing recovery, making changes around use, or supporting a loved one. These experiences often intersect with larger life transitions and can bring up complex emotions. In our work together, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can make sense of what you’re experiencing while building practical tools to feel more grounded and confident moving forward. If you’re facing change and don’t know where to begin, therapy can be a place to find clarity, support, and direction.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe that people are the experts of their own lives, and the answers and clarity people seek out in therapy are within them. With a person centered approach, I aim to give each person a safe space to explore themselves and make positive changes in their lives.

Relational

The relationships we have in our lives are pivotal for our emotional well-being. With relational therapy, we can explore certain patterns that may exist with how you interact in your relationships (romantic, professional, friendships) and identify ways to create stronger, healthier relationships in your life.
