Are you ready to start digging up the roots of some annoying habits, patterns, or unhealthy tendencies? I would love to accompany you on that endeavor. I help people discover, uncover, and change the early established thoughts and beliefs that keep us in unconscious behavioral loops and cycles. I love using EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) as a tool, as I believe it supports the idea that somewhere inside of ourselves, we know and feel what we truly need in order to heal. I help people reconnect to their bodies and breath, as the body is encumbered in our psychological functioning. I will hold my clients accountable for maintaining healthy lifestyles that include exercise, eating in a way that supports healthy hormone and neurotransmitter balances, and the sacred but often over looked practice of self-care. I work mainly with those struggling with anxiety, body focused repetitive behaviors (trichotillomania, for example), low self esteem, transitions, and processing/integrating grief. I also offer ketamine assisted therapy, which is another great tool for reconnecting to your inner healer.
My clients can expect to go as deep or stay as surface as they feel comfortable. In general, I gather information regarding family and mental health history, and will want to know what is bringing you to therapy! We will discuss what your goals for therapy are, and how we might achieve those goals.
My biggest strength is helping people feel more empowered to do what scares them-whether that's physically, mentally, or emotionally; to expand your window of tolerance to live life more fully.
I work with adults who have anxiety, PTSD/trauma, are in life transitions, and who have lost someone significant.
I completed the level 1 and 2 trainings of EMDR in 2020. I use this modality to treat trauma and PTSD, as well as self limiting beliefs.
The graduate school I attended is rooted in Jungian/depth psychology. This can include doing active imagination with potent dreams, and treating symptoms as messengers rather than something to 'fix'.
I worked in a hospice for the final year of my clinical training in 2018-2019. I supported loved ones of people who had died from illness as well as sudden, traumatic deaths. I led various groups, including a meditation group. Our approach was based in Worden and Rollo May's approaches to grief.
I have been a yoga instructor since 2011. I incorporate body awareness in my work, including the breath. I teach clients how to breathe deeply and how to use their breath to regulate their nervous systems.
