I predominantly work with young men struggling with social anxiety disorder. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, poor self-worth, and poor self-confidence. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. I am originally from New York, so I have had the opportunity to gain experience at reputable institutions such as New York Presbyterian Hospital and Montefiore Health System. I have also served as Director of the Behavior Health Department at Salinas Valley Health in Salinas, California.
I earned my BA in Psychology from Boston College and my Master of Social Work from Fordham University. I also earned my MBA in Healthcare Administration in 2019. Outside of work, I enjoy boxing, playing golf, yoga, lifting weights, and going to the beach!
The goal in psychotherapy is for you to become your own therapist. We would achieve this in a collaborative and strategic manner. There has always been a need to address our emotional well being but until recent times, this topic is more accepted than ever to discuss. Not only do I help people address their problems, but I also aim to help people be self-actualizing.
Since 2011, I have pursued the field of Psychology and Mental Health with great passion. I have found that utilizing multiple therapeutic approaches allows for individuality within treatment and the therapeutic relationship. I typically utilize concepts related to Depth Psychology, Mindfulness Practices, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT); Motivational Interviewing (MI); Solution Focused Therapy, and Existential therapy. It is my understanding that all behavior is purposeful and allows an individual to obtain personal needs and desires. However, at times, these behaviors may be maladaptive and cause an individual distress. Through the therapeutic process we will explore these patterns and discover ways in which an individual can live a rewarding and meaningful life.
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York. I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from SUNY Albany and my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from C.W. Post Long Island University. I moved to Texas in 2012 and have continued to counsel and grow my virtual practice in both New York and Texas.
