I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I received my Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University and have been in practice for 8 years. I guide clients through life transitions and help them to grow and heal into the best versions of themselves. I believe that therapy can provide the guidance necessary to work through transitions and ultimately, reach your utmost potential. I work collaboratively with clients and utilize a client-centered, strengths-based approach to help them feel empowered to reach their personal goals. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe and welcoming environment, where clients are supported and guided through this process.
In our first session, we will begin with brief introductions and then leap into specific challenges that have brought you to therapy. We will discuss your personal goals and expectations; this will us to work collaboratively to create a plan tailored to your goals.
With over 8 years of experience working adolescents, young adults and adults, I have developed skills to work with clients in a way that allow them to feel empowered in their own therapeutic process. I believe it is important for clients to feel as though they are taking charge of their growth and healing. My experience allows me to work with clients to identify the root causes for their challenges and create a plan to achieve personal goals.
I utilize CBT to help clients understand how their thoughts and feelings impact their behaviors. CBT allows for growth in personal insight about why we are the way we are and why we behave the way we do.
Motivational Interviewing allows clients to feel empowered and in control of their therapy. I find it an essential when working with adolescents and young adults.
I believe that everyone has strengths. Although clients may have difficulty identifying what their strengths are, I utilize my role as a therapist to guide them to uncover those strengths and utilize them to aid in the therapeutic process.
