New to Grow
Hello, I am a licensed clinical social worker in New York and Arizona. I am committed to helping individuals turn life's difficulties into opportunities for growth by building mental toughness and self-awareness. I believe therapy offers a unique opportunity to pause, reflect, and create meaningful change. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, or a major life transition, my goal is to provide a supportive and collaborative space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. My experience spans 30 years. In addition to academic training, I have received training and been a trainer in Critical Incident Stress (CIS), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
First sessions with me begin with me sharing additional information about myself, and give you the opportunity to ask questions and/or share past experiences with therapy. In addition, there is time spent on what I call the "administrative" process. I start with a Solution-Focused stance, allowing you to share what brought you to take this step. From here, decide the most appropriate ways to help you move forward. At the end, I provide feedback and we begin drafting goals so that, for the next session, we can work on specifics.
I work to meet your specific needs and desires through a diverse approach that includes interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and, at times, motivational interviewing. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based practices. Every person's story is unique, and I tailor therapy to meet your individual needs and goals. Together, we can explore patterns, build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and work to feel more fulfilled and aligned with your values. Seeking support is a courageous step, and I look forward to accompanying you on your journey toward growth and wellbeing.
If you are ambivalent about being in therapy; have the belief that therapy is for others not you.. Or may be a client has been in therapy before and had a positive or not so positive experience but want to feel better now. Or a client that is ready to make the time to talk to a professional of an issue that has troubled them and now wants to get past it, want to explore options and grow.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is used to structure our time together,. It involves both of us being active by collaborating and focusing on identifying and changing patterns of thinking and behavior that cause you emotional distress. Does not mean the past in not discussed; however it is used to learn from it and used to develop action steps/interventions and assignments in between sessions.
Motivational Interviewing
Change is hard even when we want to change. I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to identify the ambivalence about change. We start with looking at the reasons for change and then strengthen their motivation to act by collaboration, being nonjudgmental to draw out the personal motivation.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Using Solution Focused Treatment is goal-oriented focusing on identifying solutions, strengths, and desired future outcomes. We will spend time on finding what is already working and how to do more of it.
