Cecilia McPeck
Hi, I’m Cecilia, and I welcome you into this first step of this courageous journey you are about to embark on. Life can feel like an endless wave coming in and out from the shore, with not much opportunity to catch your breath. Instead, let’s catch this wave together, where you deserve someone to honor, support, and remind you of all the ways you are in full control of your ride to your most authentic self, feeling much more connected to your sole purpose, where I am committed to fostering your personal growth and offer you the tools to build off of your own inner wisdom.
First session
The therapeutic space is one of safety, collaboration, and the priority for you to feel in control. I want the individual to always feel heard, seen, and felt as though they matter in every sense. There are zero expectations and requirements when entering the therapy world other than showing up just as you are. In the first session I will identify my role, philosophy, and open the space to hear from you on your concerns, thoughts, expectations, and needs in a therapist and therapy setting to ensure you feel safe and supported. I may begin to gather information surrounding what makes you, you, and inquire on some goals you may have for us.
Strengths
I work with a diverse set of clients, ranging from adolescents to adults, who experience anxiety, depression, mood disruption, low self-worth, identity issues, and who need affirming, anti-oppressive care. My background in extensive trauma therapy and specialization in interpersonal skills helps me employ a personalized care plan to best meet your goals I offer a calm, judgment-free space where you can process, heal, and rebuild. Holding hands with your inner child, we can transform trauma with play and humor. Together, we’ll work at your pace to understand your story, create safety, and honor your strengths. I appreciate your resiliency, and if this resonates, I look forward to meeting you at the shore.
Ideal clients
I look to hold space for any individual who feels as though they are uncertain or are ready to join in on the therapeutic journey. I seek to foster a collaborative space with someone who possibly comes forward with immediate concerns, crisis, trauma, or who is seeking a place they want to re discover and establish new goals in this era of life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop more balanced perspectives, and build practical coping strategies to support meaningful and lasting change.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help clients better understand and manage difficult emotions, navigate stress, strengthen relationships, and build healthier coping strategies. Together, we focus on developing practical tools for emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and communication that can be applied to everyday life.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I incorporate Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help clients process difficult or traumatic experiences, identify unhelpful thought patterns, and develop more balanced and empowering perspectives. Together, we work to reduce the impact of trauma while strengthening self-trust, emotional well-being, and a sense of control.
Motivational Interviewing
I incorporate Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their goals, values, and personal motivations for change. Through a collaborative and nonjudgmental approach, I support clients in building confidence, identifying their strengths, and taking meaningful steps toward the changes they want to make.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I incorporate Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Trauma Informed Care to assist in addressing the either past or present day trauma that has impacted someone's daily functioning. Together, we build coping and emotional regulation skills, process difficult experiences at a developmentally appropriate pace, and help clients develop a greater sense of safety, confidence, and resilience.
