LCSW, 12 years of experience
My name is Vicky Payiati, I am a psychotherapist in New York. In the last 15 years, I had the opportunity to provide care in varied multiple clinical settings with both young adults and adult clients. This has provided me with the experience of targeting and treating an array of mental health conditions through the life span and acquired an understanding of human development and how it affects different conditions and behaviors. I have been trained in Cognitive behavioral therapy, Trauma focused -CBT, CBT-I for insomnia, brief strategic therapy, grief therapy, exposure therapy and response as well as interpersonal psychodynamic therapy. I utilize these modalities to address issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties.
I am trained in different treatment modalities but mostly use CBT in my practice. In our sessions, we will discuss your goals for treatment and determine the most appropriate way to help you achieve them. If CBT is a good fit, we will examine how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience and learn to identify and change negative thought patterns that influence your emotions and behavior.
My approach is based on the perspective of strength. Collaboration enables clients to identify and promote personal strengths as a canvas to build a holistic, and person-centered therapy which encourages personal growth.
My "dream client" is someone who actively partners with their therapist, embracing the challenges and rewards of self-discovery and growth via therapy.
I am trained in CBT-i which a treatment tailored to assist with sleeping difficulties. I have been using this modality both in individual and group therapy.
I have been trained at the Beck institute to treat clients with depression and anxiety with utilizing CBT. I have been using this modality since 2018 and clients' find it very helpful to manage anxiety, panic attacks , phobias as well as improving self esteem, motivation and energy to facilitate positive changes in their lives.
I have been using grief therapy since 2018 and my clients have seen in improvements in their ability to manage life transitions related to different types of loss.
I have been utilizing psychodynamic therapy since 2015. Clients can benefit from psychodynamic therapy which assist with exploring unconscious processes and past experiences to understand current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that affect and influence relationships.
