My name is Catherine Sparks and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have spent the past 20 years working with individuals as they process difficult situations. I have walked with them as they voiced a desire for change and made steps to put goals in place to make that change happen. I am genuine, compassionate, and I love to laugh! With my easy going nature I hope to put you at ease and create an environment where you can feel comfortable engaging in open discussion, critical thinking, introspection, and change. I received her Bachelors degree in Psychology at Spring Arbor University and went on to attain my Masters of Social Work from Western Michigan University. I am currently licensed as an LCSW in both North Carolina and Michigan.
You are in control of your goals. I want to be there to provide direction and guidance, but in the end, you need to be moving toward something that is important for you. This work is hard, and the end goal has to be something that is worth the effort! During your sessions you can expect open conversation. I want to get to know you, and your concerns. I want to discuss your goals so that, from the very beginning, you can see the start to a path forward.
I use a cognitive behavioral, strength-based, and solution-focused approach. I work to make sure that you are the center of your own plan for creating goals and the path to meeting them!
I have spent the bulk of my career working with adults as they struggle with the stress that can come from daily life and unexpected life events. I am comfortable working with individuals who are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, loneliness, grief and loss, etc.
