I am a veteran of the helping professions, having served since 1982 in some capacity or another, and I still find excitement in the possibility of helping those who need such assistance. I am currently licensed in two states, both North Carolina and Pennsylvania. I find many people respond to my ability to simply listen and that shows that they do not often feel they have been heard and sometimes this is all that is necessary to start the journey to begin healing. Certainly more is often required, and helping people connect with effective treatments whether provided by myself or not is the best help that can be given.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Usually diving into the deep end of the pool can be very motivating and also daunting. We start at the point that the client is able or most comfortable to begin. I try to move through introductions in a manner that feels like it will lead us into the reasons for the meeting from the very start.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have met literally thousands of clients over the 40 - plus years I have been doing this and I still find things that are unique and that excites me. Most clients that stay with me, and often stay for quite a while at their choice. We all have those who drift away, and I also have many who have done this. By far and away many who stay find something that works for them in our interactions.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Many people find themselves traumatized by the grip of emotions that prevent themselves from acting with effectiveness and not understanding why this happens. I feel I am usually very effective in helping with this.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

In my 40 years as a member of this helping profession, the experience of trauma is the most pervasive issue that I have encountered. It seems to invade most peoples experiences without relief sometimes, and is baffling at best in the manner it invades and complicates how people are left to function. I find that the simple discussion of how it can affect one's awareness and functioning can often start the relief long sought for by those who suffer from its grasp. Discussion of the various methods to treat this can help search out effective modalities that may serve to bring relief to some of its sufferers. In this manner the search and choice of methods that prove effective can begin.
