About me

My name is Krystal Hall and I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor, as well as a licensed clinical addiction specialist. I am also the owner of Joy's New Beginnings Counseling Services. For the past ten years, I have had the pleasure of assisting individuals in obtaining a new way of life without the day-to-day experience of problematic symptoms related to their own mental health and/or substance use. I have worked in many different roles including individual therapist, group therapist, clinical supervisor, and community advocate.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals understand and change their negative thought patterns and behaviors. The underlying principle of CBT is that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and by changing our thought patterns, we can influence our emotions and actions.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a goal-oriented, short-term therapeutic approach that focuses on finding solutions to current problems rather than focusing too deeply into past issues or the origins of a client’s difficulties. I have found this approach to be particularly useful for individuals facing specific, manageable issues such as stress, anxiety, relationship problems, or work-related challenges. It is also beneficial for those who may feel stuck or overwhelmed by their problems and need a more practical, action-based approach to moving forward.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, directive counseling approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about behavior change. MI is designed to increase the client's motivation to change by enhancing their intrinsic motivation and commitment to change, rather than imposing external pressure. I will often use MI in conjunction with other therapies, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to enhance the client’s motivation and ensure long-term success in treatment.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT) is a therapeutic approach that incorporates mindfulness practices, which involve focusing on the present moment in a non-judgmental and accepting way. I often use this approach to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other emotional or psychological challenges. The main goal of mindfulness-based therapy is to increase self-awareness, regulate emotions, and foster a sense of acceptance and compassion for one’s thoughts and feelings.

Supportive

Supportive therapy is a therapy approach that focuses on strengthening daily coping mechanisms, as well as providing encouragement during difficult life transitions. I like to utilize this approach as it emphasizes on building a strong therapeutic relationship and utilizing techniques like interactive feedback, reassurance, and encouragement to help individuals manage specific problems and improve their overall well-being
