New to Grow
Hello, I’m Leah McGrath, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Teaching, and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University. I am trained in CBT, DBT, trauma treatment, and Motivational Interviewing among others, enabling me to provide a compassionate, evidence-based approach to care.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session we will focus on getting to know each other, exploring your specific strengths and challenges. I will work with you to assess for mental health, behavioral health, or substance dependence that may be impacting your daily functioning. By the end of our first session together we should have sense of what your goals are and where we should focus our work.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach to therapy is person-centered, solution-focused, and strengths-based. I believe in creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you feel truly heard and valued. I believe you are the expert in your own life, I am simply here to help you make that life one that is worth living.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with older teens and adults who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward while facing challenges like ADHD, ASD, depression, anxiety, poor self-worth, or trauma. I understand how difficult it can be to navigate these experiences alone, and I’m here to provide compassionate guidance and practical tools tailored to their unique needs. Together, we’ll focus on building self-awareness, developing coping skills, and creating a more fulfilling, balanced life where they can thrive and connect with their authentic selves.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT to assist clients in learning mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and improve emotional regulation.
Motivational Interviewing
I use MI to assist clients in resolving ambivalence and help to develop and address goals in a collaborative way.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients gain insight into unhelpful thinking styles, their impact on mood, and how they can inform our behavior.
