New to Grow
Hello, I’m Leah McGrath! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate, and I’m so glad you’re here. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Teaching, and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University. I’m trained in CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, and Motivational Interviewing, among other approaches. My goal is to create a supportive, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered, while using evidence-based tools to support your growth and well-being. I provide comprehensive ADHD assessments and compassionate, personalized support for a variety of mental health and substance use concerns, creating a space where clients feel understood and supported.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what’s been going on for you including your strengths, challenges, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. Together, we’ll explore any mental health, behavioral, or substance-related concerns that may be affecting your day-to-day life. By the end of our time together, we’ll have a clearer sense of your goals and a shared plan for where to focus our work, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach to therapy is person-centered, solution-focused, and strengths-based. I aim to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I believe you know your life best, and my role is to support you as you explore what you need and move toward a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling for you.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with older teens and adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about where to go next. Many of the individuals I support are navigating experiences such as ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, or the lasting effects of trauma. I know how hard it can be to carry these challenges on your own. My goal is to offer a warm, understanding space where you can feel safe, supported, and truly heard. At your own pace, we’ll work together to build self-awareness, explore helpful coping tools, and move toward a more balanced and meaningful life one that feels more connected, manageable, and true to who you are.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate DBT in a gentle, supportive way to help clients slowly build skills such as mindfulness, managing difficult moments, understanding emotions, and navigating relationships more comfortably. These skills are introduced at a pace that feels right for each person, offering practical support for everyday challenges while encouraging greater self-compassion and emotional balance.
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing to gently support clients as they explore mixed feelings and discover what matters most to them. Together, we work in a collaborative and supportive way to help clarify goals and move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in a calm, supportive way to help clients gently notice patterns in their thoughts, understand how those thoughts affect their emotions, and see how they shape everyday behaviors. We explore these patterns together with curiosity and care, making room for greater awareness and meaningful change at a comfortable pace.
