Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. I received my Masters from the East Carolina University and have been practicing for 15 years. I help children and adults with depressed moods, stress, substance misuse, and low self-worth become the best versions of themselves. My hope is to provide you with skilled and compassionate therapeutic assistance to overcome mental health challenges. As a therapist and person of faith, I am committed to providing high-quality, person-centered services. In therapy, I prefer to use a combination of Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and motivational enhancement strategies to help people understand what drives them, identify barriers to the change they seek and develop the skills necessary to become the persons they were created to be. Your goals and values provide the context for everything I do. I am committed to providing services free from judgment, stigma, and shame. And you can feel comfortable incorporating your spirituality into sessions as much as you wish. As your therapist and guide, You Shall Grow Through What You Go Through!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
It’s vital that you feel comfortable with me. We’ll spend time ensuring our communication styles align. Instead of just listing problems, we’ll start identifying what a "thriving" version of your life actually looks like. We will map out which path feels like the right starting point for your specific challenge. This will be a time to learn about you and identify how we can make life better. I believe therapy is more than just "fixing what’s broken"—it’s about discovering what’s possible. My approach is rooted in Growth-Oriented Therapy, where we look at your past not as a life sentence, but as the soil from which you can grow.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I specialize in helping clients move from a state of "survival" to a state of "intentionality." Not only do I have clinical training and professional experience, but was a person who existed in survival mode, to thriving with peace, joy, and happiness. My approach is built on clinical pillars designed to heal the past while empowering your future. I have a knack for meeting you exactly where you are, without judgment, creating a "brave space" for vulnerability. I blend traditional modalities (like CBT) with forward-looking strategies to ensure you leave each session with both "why" and "how." I am an expert at spotting the resilience and skills you already possess—even when you can’t see them yourself. Are you stuck in a rut that seems impossible to get out of? When you are struggling with the weight of depression or the echoes of trauma, it can feel like you are navigating a landscape no one else understands. My practice is built on the belief that true healing happens when professional evidence-based strategies meet genuine, human empathy. I bring a unique perspective to our work, combining years of professional clinical training with my own lived experience of negative thinking, trauma and loss. I offer a non-judgmental, grace-filled environment where you can sort out the pieces and put them back together in a more adaptive manner. I offer a space that is free of judgment and rich with authentic understanding to work collaboratively to reclaim your sense of self. I provide a space that is equal parts compassionate and challenging, ensuring you feel supported. If you are looking for a therapist who understands the weight of your story without you having to find the "right" words to describe it, I invite you to reach out.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with individuals who are tired of the “same ole-same ole” and are ready to engage in the "work" of change. My ideal clients are looking to heal from generational patterns and build a new, healthier legacy for themselves. It is my mission to help you reprocess the past and silence the inner critic that keeps you stuck in negative patterns. I specialize in helping individuals break free from old patterns using a powerful blend of CBT, EMDR and Motivational Interviewing to align your healing with your deepest values. Whether you are navigating profound loss or struggling to find your voice, my goal is to provide the evidence-based tools and compassionate space you need to rediscover your strength. Let’s work together to turn your survival story into a journey of intentional growth.
Christian Counseling
With counseling from a Biblical perspective, many people have found the source of inner healing through the word of God and prayer. It is my mission to help those discover this way of life and experience freedom from anxiety, depression, addictions, mental turmoil, unhealthy thinking patterns and low self-esteem by focusing on living and fulfilling your purpose.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is an evidenced based modality that I have utilized in practice for over 10 years. It focuses on how what you think, affects how you feel, thus how you feel, makes you react a certain way. Therefore, we restructure negative thoughts and feelings into more adaptive thoughts and feelings to produce positive behavioral changes. It relies on psychoeducation and practicing of the skills.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is an approach that I have been trained in and have used with clients who have experienced adverse childhood trauma such as sexual abuse as well as domestic violence. It helped to heal and process memories that cause nightmares and flashbacks, even years after the trauma first occurred.
Psychoeducation
Understanding the reasoning behind our thought processes and actions as well as presenting material to clients so that they can make changes, is very important.
