Hello! My name is Clover and I am a licensed clinical therapist and addiction specialist in the state of North Carolina. I look forward to the opportunity of learning and working together as part of our therapeutic process. I enjoy working with folks who are gender diverse and members of the LGBTQIA+ community who experience unique stressors and conflicts with their day-to-day lives. I also love working with folks who struggle with substance use either in addition to other life stressors or on its own especially in the context of substance use disorders being highly stigmatized. I focus on substance use treatment approaches with a functionality mindset to work on setting reasonable goals and expectations during the clinical process. I started my clinical work with addiction and grew as a therapist and person to see people from a whole-person perspective. Our difficulties, conflicts, our stressors do not define us for who we are and when they prevent or delay us from becoming our authentic selves is where the therapeutic process blossoms. I believe everybody is always in a constant process of growing into our best selves and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you along this process too.
The first session is a warm invitation to therapy to start the process of understanding each other. As we work together I ask, what is the difference between your ideal self and your current self. We take this understanding and bridge it to goals to work on during the therapy process. We will adjust and work together as life is often unpredictable and flexibility is essential.
My strengths in clinical practice is with my focus on authenticity, empathetic listening, reflection, and challenging. The therapeutic process can be difficult and I strongly believe in working on challenging in a healthy way and listening to my folks in a way that can be supportive and growth oriented. I focus on LGBTIA+ patients, particularly those who identify as gender diverse. I also work regularly with individuals with medical trauma, depression, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, and generalixed anxiety disorder.
