New to Grow
I am a licensed mental health counselor and addiction specialist with over a decade of experience supporting individuals through life’s challenges. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and recovery, providing a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to explore and grow. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also incorporating mindfulness and motivational techniques. I believe in meeting clients where they are and empowering them to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, supportive space. We’ll start by discussing what brings you to therapy, any current concerns, and what you’re hoping to gain from the process. I may ask questions about your background, including your mental health history, relationships, and any significant life experiences, to better understand the full picture of your needs. You are always in control of what you choose to share, and we will move at a pace that feels right for you. We’ll also begin identifying initial goals and discuss how we can work together to support your progress. I’ll share more about my approach and answer any questions you may have about therapy. By the end of the session, you can expect to have a clearer sense of direction, along with initial tools or strategies if appropriate. Most importantly, my goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and comfortable moving forward.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being open and honest. I balance empathy with directness, helping clients feel heard while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I take a practical, results-oriented approach to therapy. Using evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients not only gain insight but also develop clear, actionable strategies they can apply in their daily lives. Clients often appreciate that our work together leads to real, noticeable changes, not just understanding, but progress. I am also highly attuned to patterns, particularly in relationships, family dynamics, and self-perception. I help clients connect the dots between past experiences and current behaviors, which allows for deeper insight and more sustainable change. Additionally, I bring extensive experience in both mental health and addiction treatment, allowing me to support clients with complex or co-occurring concerns in a comprehensive and integrated way. Overall, my approach is collaborative, structured, and empowering, helping clients build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
My ideal client is someone who is open to self-reflection and motivated, whether fully or ambivalently, to make meaningful changes in their life. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or recovery from substance use, and are seeking a supportive, nonjudgmental space to better understand themselves. I am particularly well-positioned to support individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, or emotionally drained, and who are ready to explore the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Many of my clients are high-functioning but internally struggling with stress, self-doubt, or difficulty setting boundaries in relationships. I also work well with clients who are processing family dynamics or identity-related concerns and who may be working toward healing, building self-esteem, and developing healthier coping strategies. Clients who are open to structured approaches like CBT, while also valuing a compassionate and collaborative therapeutic relationship, tend to benefit most from my style. In addition, I have strong experience supporting individuals in addiction recovery or those impacted by substance use, helping them build insight, maintain stability, and create sustainable lifestyle changes. Overall, my ideal client is someone who is ready to do the work, even if they’re unsure where to start, and is looking for guidance, structure, and encouragement as they move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have extensive experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my clinical practice, as it is one of my primary therapeutic approaches. CBT is an evidence-based, goal-oriented modality that focuses on identifying and restructuring maladaptive thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. In my work, I use CBT to help clients increase awareness of the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I support clients in identifying cognitive distortions, challenging unhelpful beliefs, and developing healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking. This often includes practical strategies such as thought records, behavioral activation, and skill-building exercises tailored to each individual’s needs. I also integrate CBT techniques to address a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I focus on helping clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and develop problem-solving abilities that can be applied in their daily lives. My approach to CBT is collaborative and client-centered. I work alongside clients to set meaningful goals, track progress, and adjust interventions as needed. I also incorporate elements of mindfulness and motivational interviewing to enhance engagement and support lasting change. Overall, I find CBT to be highly effective in empowering clients to gain insight, build resilience, and achieve sustainable improvements in their mental health and overall well-being.
