+ I have been practicing clinical social work since I received my Masters in 1986. Settings I have worked in include: community mental health agencies, youth residential programs, schools (elementary, middle and high school), remote therapy platforms. I love my work and easily connect with all types of clients, placing importance on building trusting therapeutic alliances. I believe that patients exhibit courage to engage in the therapeutic process. I view the therapeutic alliance between myself and client as a partnership. Throughout the process I make sure to check in with the client about how they are perceiving things such as the development of the relationship and the pace of the process for the client. I am always open to feedback.

Hello – I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and have several years’ experience working with individuals navigating severe and persistent mental illness in their adult years. I have several certifications and trainings completed specific to mood and thought disorders as well as within perinatal/maternal mental health. With my professional experience so far, I believe that I offer a wide variety of perspectives and insights that can be utilized to help meet diverse needs and goals, while continuing to learn and grow as a clinician with each client that I meet. I will provide support and encouragement as we work together to achieve your uniquely desired goals. In any unexpected challenge or life change, we can feel any number of complicated emotions or a confusing mix of emotions. My goal is not to push away or avoid these painful feelings but rather to validate, support and navigate these emotional experiences. I hope to support you in acknowledging your thoughts and feelings and how they relate to your experiences. Through this we can find ways for you to cope that you feel are genuine. We all deserve someone in our corner, someone to be our unbiased sounding board, to challenge us and to provide a space to air out our thoughts- let’s do this together.

Hello, welcome to my page. I am a graduate from Westfield State University with a Master's in Social Work. I currently hold a license in individual clinical social work (LICSW). I love the work I do and am inspired by the lives of everyday people. I believe in engaging people in a non-judgmental, empowering, and respectful manner that is dynamic and unique to best fit your lifestyle. I strive to help clients feel valued, gain positive results, and achieve goals using tailored interventions to your needs. My approach I believe that regardless of what brings you to therapy most people are struggling with making peace with their humanness. Based on this principle I take a Humanistic approach to supporting Clients focusing on their existing strengths, challenging limiting self-narratives, and building healthy patterns of behavior. My focus I typically think of my clients as a "person in the environment approach" thinking about their interactions and relationships within the micro-to-macro systems that surround them. I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed and managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, and childhood trauma. Much of the deeper work done by my clients surrounds themes of perfectionism, childhood attachment wounds, and healing from relational trauma. My communication style I take a conversational tone in therapy trying to ensure I discuss clinical topics in a way that is meaningful, and easily applied to your daily life. My goals for you My approach to goal setting with clients is all about collaborating to identify your focus and needs. You are the expert in you so developing trust is always the first step to achieving any goals you may bring to therapy.

Do you feel you've been living just to get through the days? Or that your past experiences in life are holding you back from what you'd really like to be doing? I may be able to help. Coming to therapy can be one of the most difficult decisions one chooses to make. Whether it's your first time, fifth time, or transitioning from a long history with a previous therapist, change can be very hard. Feeling the right connection is an important building block of treatment success. I have worked in community mental health for over 10 years and have experience with a myriad of stressors including (not limited to) life transitions, relational problems, trauma (complex trauma), depression/anxiety, and grief. I believe in the power of change and healing at any age. Our early life experiences can shape how we view the world and how we see (or don't see) ourselves being able to move forward. Please consider contacting me for a free 15 minute consultation to ask any questions you may have.

Hi, I’m Andrew MacMillan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering virtual therapy in Massachusetts and North Carolina. I work with adults navigating a wide range of challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship stress, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. Therapy with me is a space where you can be honest, uncertain, overwhelmed, or stuck — without judgment. Together, we’ll explore what’s getting in the way and develop tools that help you move toward clarity, self-compassion, and emotional balance. I draw from a range of evidence-based practices including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I often support clients with emotion regulation, identity exploration, and longstanding patterns related to personality dynamics or relational trauma. I have particular experience working with neurodivergent adults — especially those who may have masked for years or struggled to feel understood in traditional therapy settings. My style is warm, nonjudgmental, and often infused with humor, because therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or cold to be effective. Whether you’re coming in with a specific goal or just a sense that something needs to shift, we can figure it out together. I’ve worked with a wide range of presentations and always strive to meet people where they are. If you're curious about working together, feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation. I’d love to learn more about what you’re looking for and help you decide if I’m the right fit.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Massachusetts rather than a city like Boston?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Massachusetts from Springfield to Cape Cod! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Massachusetts.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
