Welcome. I’m Sharon Corliss, MSW, LICSW, a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over eleven years of experience helping adults navigate life’s most difficult challenges. I provide virtual therapy for clients in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida, offering a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel safe, heard, and understood. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I also have extensive experience working with veterans and individuals facing complex emotional and psychological challenges. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, recognizing that every person’s experiences, strengths, and goals are different. I use evidence-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and psychodynamic therapy. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build practical coping skills, process difficult experiences, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel comfortable being yourself without fear of judgment. Whether you’re struggling with the effects of trauma, coping with the loss of a loved one, managing anxiety or depression, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, I will meet you with empathy, respect, and genuine care. We will move at a pace that feels right for you while focusing on your goals and building on your strengths. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. My goal is to help you gain insight, develop resilience, strengthen your coping skills, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward healing and personal growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, my priority is getting to know you and creating a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and heard. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and it’s completely normal to have questions or feel uncertain about what to expect. There is no expectation that you share everything during our first meeting—we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We’ll begin by talking about what brought you to therapy and the concerns you’d like to address. I’ll ask questions about your current symptoms, personal history, relationships, strengths, and any previous experiences with counseling or treatment. This conversation helps me understand your unique experiences while identifying the areas that are most important to you. We’ll also discuss your goals for therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. Together, we’ll begin developing a treatment plan that reflects your needs, values, and priorities. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, so your input is an essential part of every step. My approach is warm, compassionate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and other effective therapeutic approaches. Every treatment plan is individualized because no two people have the same experiences or goals. If you’re seeking support for trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, or life transitions, we’ll begin exploring how these experiences have affected your life while identifying practical strategies to help you feel more supported between sessions. By the end of our first appointment, you’ll have a better understanding of how I work, an opportunity to ask any questions, and a clearer sense of the direction we’ll take together. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the work ahead. Healing is a process, and I look forward to partnering with you as we work toward meaningful and lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring a combination of clinical expertise, compassion, and genuine collaboration to every session. With more than eleven years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I have worked with adults from diverse backgrounds, including veterans and individuals navigating trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stress, and major life transitions. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. My approach stands out because I tailor treatment to each individual’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. I integrate evidence-based therapies—including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-informed care—to help clients build practical coping skills, gain insight, process difficult experiences, and create lasting change. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful treatment. I strive to balance empathy with practical strategies, helping clients better understand themselves while developing the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience. My focus is on meeting you where you are, honoring your pace, and working together toward meaningful, lasting growth and healing.
