I live and work in a remote wilderness area of Utah. I have over 15 years of experience working in community mental health in various settings and residential treatment. For many years I was a clinical supervisor. I consider myself a Shepard, helping others find their way. We all have so much value and yet so many things can interfere with our ability to find wholeness and happiness. I specialize in helping you to discover your gifts and move forward in a more positive way.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will focus on assessment. What brings you to therapy? What do you hope to get out of the experience? What are you most concerned about as you enter therapy? I will also give you some practical strategies you can use right away to help you find peace and alleviate your suffering.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Our greatest tool as therapists is ourselves. Like so many people, I have encountered difficulties in life and have learned to overcome them while working with others to overcome their challenges. There is no single path to success and wholeness. I understand this and can help you to find the path that fits best for you. I am a highly compassionate person who strives to form real connections with those I work with to help you uncover your best self.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best with those who are struggling with feelings of disconnection. This can manifest in problems with relationships, self-esteem, addiction, anxiety, or depression. There is a reason you are struggling. It's not your fault. I can help you develop understand and tools to overcome these problems. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples. I draw from various modalities to find what makes the most sense and works the best for you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I can help you learn the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Our thoughts can often generate negative feelings for us. There are strategies we can practice to recognize this and move past it so you are no longer limited or feeling stuck.

Couples Counseling

I rely on the Gottman method for couples counseling. This is an evidenced based approach backed by research that teaches skills to a happier relationship.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT offers skills for managing emotions as well as challenges we experience in relationships. I bring in aspects from DBT as needed to manage feelings, develop boundaries, assertiveness, and mindfulness.

EMDR

EMDR is a type of treatment for trauma. It helps us to identify negative thoughts we have about ourselves related to past experiences and shift this to more adaptive and positive beliefs about ourselves.

Psychoeducation

If we can name it, we can manage it. Learning about how our brain works and what causes difficulty helps us overcome it. I incorporate psycho education into my work with people as an empowerment tool.
