Hello! My name is Dr. Ellie Gottstein, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PsyD) with over seven years of experience in the field. I have worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, college counseling centers, and medical facilities. I grew up as a competitive figure skater and dancer and hold the identity of "athlete" close to my heart. This translates into a goal-oriented mindset for myself and my clients, which is useful when tackling some of life's most significant challenges. My primary clinical interests include anxiety disorders, depression, stress management, perfectionism, and motivational difficulties.
Congratulations on taking an important step toward strengthening your emotional well-being and prioritizing your mental health. Seeking support is a meaningful decision that reflects courage, self-awareness, and a commitment to personal growth. I am Dr. Vester Appiah, a doctoral-level Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP). With more than a decade of clinical experience, I specialize in providing evidence-based, compassionate care to adolescents, young adults, and adults. My approach is tailored to support individuals seeking stability, growth, and long-term healing.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with over 6 years of experience supporting children, teens, and adults through diverse life, stages and challenges. I provide a calm, supportive space where children, teens and adults can slow down, feel understood and begin making sense of what they are carrying. My approach is compassionate, practical and grounded in evidence based care while honoring the whole person, not just the challenges that bring someone to therapy. I believe healing happens through safety, connection, and trust. Therapy with me as collaborative and thoughtfully paced meeting clients where they are at and supporting meaningful sustainable change.

I'm Jay Varela, a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in TEAM-CBT — a structured, evidence-based method developed by Dr. David Burns at Stanford. I hold Level 3 Advanced certification from the Feeling Good Institute and train regularly with the Beck Institute.
Most therapy is open-ended. Mine isn't. I track your symptoms with the Burns Brief Mood Survey before and after every session, so you always know whether therapy is working — and so do I. The data tells us when to keep going, when to change course, and when you're done.
Most clients see significant improvement in 4-6 sessions. OCD typically takes 8-12. I treat anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and relationship problems.
Hello, my name is Shurla and I am a Board Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Founder of Restorative Thoughts Counsel. Hi I’m Dawn! For over 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals, children, and families achieve their goals through providing inpatient, outpatient, and group therapy. Early in life, I learned the importance of helping others. My mission is to empower individuals and families to become their best selves. I would like to guide you in identifying tools to help you cope with everyday life stressors. If you are finding it difficult to navigate through life’s challenges, then I am here to support you.
Hi, I'm Adam and I'm looking forward to meeting and seeing if we are a good therapeutic match.
In my career I've worked with a broad spectrum of clients hailing from many different ethnicities, age groups, genders, levels of education, socio-economic status, sexualities and personal histories. I recognize that behavior and mental health occur in a context. Trauma is real. Oppression and injustice are real. Before I was a therapist I spent years in community organizing and social justice advocacy. Therapy that isn't grounded in the social environment in which one lives is incomplete at best. I understand this because I've been there and seen it firsthand. If you're looking for a therapist that gets this in their bones, I'm your person.
My favorite thing about providing therapy is asking questions that unlock the insight and inspiration you need to solve your problems, manage your emotions effectively and become the self that you most want to be. When you work with me, you'll have the listening ear of someone with broad experience and perspective. You will find keys to open doors you may not even have been aware of, and you'll emerge with greater self-awareness and confidence.
I have extensive experience working with people with serious mental illness, or "SMI" (e.g. schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder etc.) and love witnessing and supporting people with challenges like these being and becoming more than they may have been told they could. That said, one doesn't have to have SMI to benefit tremendously from therapy. My experience working with the SMI community broadens my perspective rather than limiting my practice.
I carry a deep compassion for all humanity and welcome the opportunity to work with anyone looking for something better out of life.
NOTE: I cannot serve residents of Chesterfield County at this time.

Hi, I’m Robyn Slayton-Lopez, a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should feel supportive, genuine, and, even when we’re doing hard work, sometimes a little bit human and real. I earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, I received a secondary Guidance Certification from Villanova University. I am a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor and have worked in a broad range of settings for over 28 years.
I believe that the best clinical practice is an evidence-formed, eclectic model whereby the therapist adjusts to the needs of the client. I strive to provide clients with an opportunity to explore their inner selves, their relationships with others and their innate striving for wholeness, creativity, and well-being. Therapy can increase overall sense of well-being, build stronger coping and problem-solving skills, strengthen one's resiliency and determination, change behavior, and build stronger interpersonal relationships.
The establishment of a trusting relationship between the client and therapist is of utmost importance to be able to work together to build a skill set to adapt and overcome life's most difficult challenges in order to create a fulfilling life. Regardless of a client's clinical needs, it is imperative to determine their support system and focus on the encouraging aspects of those relationships in helping the client become more resilient and set on a positive path in life.
I work with individuals 16 and older, offering a supportive, collaborative space where clients can feel heard, understood, and empowered. My approach is personalized and practical, blending mindfulness and tailored coping tools with thoughtful reflection to help clients navigate challenges, build insight, and create meaningful, long-lasting change. I am a licensed therapist with decades of clinical experience helping adults work through anxiety, chronic stress, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My approach is both compassionate and practical. I don’t believe in endless talk without progress—therapy with me is active, collaborative, and purposeful. Together, we focus on understanding what’s driving your distress and developing clear, effective strategies to help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.
Clients often describe me as direct yet deeply supportive. I combine evidence-based therapeutic techniques with insight, clarity, and personalized guidance tailored to you. You can expect thoughtful feedback, meaningful reflection, and—when appropriate—home practices that help translate insight into real-world change.
I work best with adults who are motivated for growth and ready to engage in the process, even when it feels uncomfortable at times. Whether you’re struggling with persistent anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship stress, or the weight of a major transition, my goal is to help you move forward with greater calm, self-trust, and resilience.

Hello, I'm Katheryn! Maybe you're the one everyone leans on. You take care of your kids, your partner, your parents, your work, your home- and somewhere along the way, you stopped taking care of yourself. If you can read this, you made the first step. Congratulations. Seeking therapy is hard. Most people delay and tell themselves that whatever they are experiencing must be the way life is. Chances are if you have reached the point to begin exploring therapy, counseling can help make your life better. While therapy is often hard, it can be an enjoyable and uplifting experience as well. I believe that you cannot laugh without a combination of insight and relief. You can expect some humor in most sessions.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years. In that time I have worked with men, women, teens, and families on a wide variety of issues. Sometimes that work simply involved helping them through a particular incident or life change that overwhelmed them. Other times our work together centered around longstanding issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
In addition to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, I also offer a fourth-wave therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have found this technique to be highly effective in helping people with trauma and or anxiety. Our minds and bodies are connected. Anyone who has experienced a tight neck and shoulders or an upset stomach when they were stressed knows this. EFT uses acupressure (done by the client) and cognitive interventions to provide fast and effective relief.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, I am ready to help you through the challenges you are facing. In addition to counseling, I also provide vocational testing, coaching, and consulting.
I provide both Christian and secular counseling depending on the needs of my clients.
For clients with high level confidentiality concerns due to corporate or clearance issues, there are ways we can do EFT without you ever speaking out loud about events.

I earned my Master’s degree from the University of New England and bring both professional expertise and personal resilience to my work. As an African American psychotherapist, wife, and mother of two, I understand the complexities of balancing multiple roles. Overcoming early motherhood at 16 shaped my strength and passion for helping others. I specialize in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and support individuals of all ages and backgrounds in navigating life’s challenges, with a special focus on the unique experiences women face.
