Stuck in a rut in life? Feel like you are going through the motions every day or experiencing anxiety that is controlling your life? I help treat conditions such as depression, panic attacks, anxiety, adjustment disorder, relationship conflict, burnout, poor self-esteem. Throughout counseling you will have a safe, confidential, non-judgmental place to talk where you will learn tools, skills that can help you be in a better place in your life. It takes courage to seek help taking the first step and I want to be there to support you through your journey toward reaching your goals. Throughout counseling I use evidence-based counseling interventions to help promote positive change in your life one step at a time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will be mostly information gathering in the initial assessment phase. At the end of the first session goals for counseling will be developed. The follow-up sessions will be focused on evidence-based interventions to help reach goals that have been developed. Throughout counseling services goals will be reviewed and progress towards them discussed, identified. Also, changes to counseling goals will be reviewed and updated as needed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Counseling sessions will provide solid techniques, tools to use to help reach goals. There is not a one-size-fits all for everything and I am proactive in tailoring, helping the client discover what works specifically for them within the scope of being evidence-based.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This therapy is used to assist clients with adapting to challenges by accepting their thoughts and feelings instead as a way to manage them and committing to spending time focused on values they have identified in their life. This type of therapy has helped my clients to accept their thoughts and feelings without trying to judge them as a tool to experience less emotional distress. Also, this theory has helped me work with clients on committing to their values such as choosing life goals and work toward engaging, focusing on activities that fit values. Lastly, this theory has been used to assist clients in developing healthy coping mechanisms to deal with emotional distress and difficult experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This theory is used with clients to assist them in dealing with mental health and emotional issues by identifying, challenging and replacing unhelpful, distorted thought patterns leading to positive change with emotions and behavior. The main connection with this theory is that thoughts influence feelings and actions. By changing thought patterns it can influence feelings and actions. This theory has been used in my practice successfully for a range of different mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This theory is used to help clients who experience intense emotions. This treatment has been used commonly with clients with Borderline Personality disorder, but can be used as well for other mental health conditions as well to help cope with emotional distress. Common aspects used in treatment I have used include mindfulness, distress tolerance skills.
