Hi, I’m Jasmine Dunnaville, LCSW, and I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges while building resilience and self-awareness. Whether it’s through therapy, teaching, or advocacy, I strive to create a space where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered. My approach is warm, direct, and solution-focused—I meet my clients where they are and help them move forward with confidence and clarity.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your goals, what’s been bringing you stress or challenges, and what you hope to gain from therapy. It’s a relaxed, judgment-free conversation where you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We’ll work together to create a plan that feels right for you, using practical strategies tailored to your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths as a therapist are my ability to connect, empower, and provide practical tools for change. I blend evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Motivational Interviewing with a trauma-informed lens to ensure clients feel safe, supported, and encouraged. My background in higher education and mental health also allows me to understand the unique stressors students and professionals face, making me an effective advocate and guide on their journey to wellness.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in working with college students, young adults, and individuals facing life transitions, particularly those managing stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or past trauma. My experience in campus mental health services and community-based support allows me to help clients who are balancing academic, personal, and professional responsibilities while striving for personal growth and emotional well-being.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

In my practice, I apply MI principles to facilitate behavior change by enhancing clients’ intrinsic motivation. Through open-ended questions, affirmations, and reflective listening, I support clients in exploring ambivalence, setting goals, and fostering self-directed change.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy, I support clients in recognizing negative interaction patterns, fostering emotional awareness, and developing healthier ways to express their needs.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT techniques to help clients recognize and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. Through cognitive restructuring and behavioral interventions, I assist individuals in developing healthier coping mechanisms and improving their emotional regulation.

Trauma Informed Care

My approach is grounded in Trauma-Informed Care by creating a safe and supportive environment that acknowledges the impact of trauma on mental health. I prioritize trust-building, empowerment, and individualized care while integrating psychoeducation to help clients understand their trauma responses and develop adaptive coping strategies.

Narrative

I incorporate Narrative Therapy by helping clients reframe their personal stories and identify strengths within their lived experiences. By externalizing problems and shifting their perspectives, clients are empowered to see themselves as the authors of their own narratives, fostering resilience and self-efficacy.
