Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, you can expect a collaborative approach to identifying goals and developing a realistic treatment plan. Your care is grounded in your individual goals, and sessions are tailored to meet your current needs. I bring an open-minded approach that values curiosity, respect for individuality, and the importance of establishing practical, actionable goals. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process that honors your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices while remaining flexible, culturally responsive, and individualized to your needs. Together, we will explore the patterns, experiences, and stressors that may be contributing to your current challenges while building practical tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

A Perspective Shaped by Experience As a Black woman therapist and first-generation college student, I understand the unique challenges that can come with balancing personal goals, family expectations, cultural experiences, and major life transitions. While every person's journey is different, these experiences have strengthened my commitment to creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, understood, and respected. I strive to provide a supportive, affirming, and nonjudgmental environment where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. My goal is to help clients feel empowered to define success, healing, and growth on their own terms.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have used ACT extensively in my work with perinatal women, supporting clients through pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and related mental health concerns. I have also completed additional training in applying ACT to grief and loss, as well as trauma, enabling me to integrate ACT principles to help clients navigate complex emotional experiences with resilience, acceptance, and values-based action.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I developed experience in DBT through previous crisis intervention work with adolescents, where I supported young people in managing intense emotions and developing effective coping strategies. I have also incorporated DBT-informed skills in my work with perinatal women, particularly around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and navigating the challenges of the perinatal period. I am committed to continued professional development in this area and have further DBT training planned to deepen my knowledge and enhance my clinical practice.

Strength-Based

**Strengths-Based Therapy** is a collaborative therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and building upon a client's existing strengths, resources, resilience, and capabilities. Rather than emphasizing deficits or problems, this approach helps clients recognize what is already working well in their lives and use those strengths to support growth, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. **My Experience:** I regularly use a strengths-based approach in my work to help clients identify and lean into the skills, resources, and personal qualities they already possess, but may have overlooked or forgotten during difficult periods. I am passionate about empowering clients by recognizing their resilience and fostering self-efficacy, helping them build confidence in their ability to navigate challenges and create meaningful change in their lives. This approach supports clients in developing a greater sense of agency and trust in their own capacity for growth and healing.
