Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a duel licensure in both Tennessee and VIrginia. I received my Master's degree at East Tennessee State University, located in Johnson City, TN, and have been practicing since 2009. I enjoy helping individuals with a variety of issues, but my primary interests are Trauma, Substance Abuse and Spirituality.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session involves both the client and myself becoming acquainted with each other. I will obtaining a detailed history of the issue or issues bringing you in to see me. Not only will we discuss different ways to address your issues , we will also discuss what your goals are. A plan will be developed based on the goals you have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe I am a versatile therapist who can get to the core of one's problem(s) and develop a plan for lasting change.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

My first exposure to IFS was in graduate school, and over the last decade, I have utilized this method as my main approach to counseling. I have found IFS useful for Individual, Couple and Family Therapy along with either symptoms management or more in-depth counseling. Used together, these therapies lead to both symptom relief and long-term change.

Adlerian

I was fortunate enough to have been taught from one of the best Adlerian's in the country, who was also my principal advisor in graduate school. This method has depth and a pragmatic aspect, which can be highly effective with every age range with a multitude of issues.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I was exposed to CBT and trained in this model for over a decade. I have found CBT highly valuable in almost every mental health situation possible.

Family Therapy

I am also a trained family systems therapist and believe using context and human interactions can be a highly effective way in helping with any mental health situation possible.

Couples Counseling

I have a great deal of training and experience in couples counseling. I have found this type of counseling to not only be a highly effective way of helping couples to be fully themselves, but also to be more connected with each other.
