I'm a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia and have experience in substance use, mental health challenges, and many other various issues. I'm truly passionate about helping people live their best lives. Let's face it, life is hard. But you don't have to do it alone. My goal is to offer hope and partnership as you navigate the challenges you're facing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I'd like to get to know about what has you seeking treatment and I'd like to learn about biological, psychological, and social factors that have shaped your world and maybe even your brain or functioning. This gives me a better idea of where we are starting. Then I want to learn about what your goals are so that we can partner in creating a plan to meet those goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having had what I might call some unique life experiences, I have a great deal of understanding and empathy for what others are going through. People often need to be witnessed in their challenges and suffering, but then motivated and challenged to make the changes they need to make to live the kind of lives they want. You're the expert on your life, but I'm here to help you do those things that make it the life you love. I also take a holistic approach; things are often more complex than they may seem. Let's take a step back and see the whole picture, because you're a whole person, not just the challenge you're dealing with right now.

My treatment methods

EMDR

This is a great therapeutic intervention for building some great coping skills and processing both past traumas and current challenges.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This modality is incredible for people who deal with chronic issues, such as pain or mental health challenges. I love to take this approach for those dealing with depression or anxiety as well.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

So much of our suffering comes from our thoughts and I like this treatment method for exploring and catching thought patterns that are inaccurate or just no longer serve us.

Motivational Interviewing

When changes need to be made but people are really stuck, this is a great way to explore elements of this and build a better change plan.
