LPC, 8 years of experience
I'm a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia and have experience in substance use, mental health challenges, and many other various issues. I'm truly passionate about helping people live their best lives. Let's face it, life is hard. But you don't have to do it alone. My goal is to offer hope and partnership as you navigate the challenges you're facing.
In our first session, I'd like to get to know about what has you seeking treatment and I'd like to learn about biological, psychological, and social factors that have shaped your world and maybe even your brain or functioning. This gives me a better idea of where we are starting. Then I want to learn about what your goals are so that we can partner in creating a plan to meet those goals.
Having had what I might call some unique life experiences, I have a great deal of understanding and empathy for what others are going through. People often need to be witnessed in their challenges and suffering, but then motivated and challenged to make the changes they need to make to live the kind of lives they want. You're the expert on your life, but I'm here to help you do those things that make it the life you love. I also take a holistic approach; things are often more complex than they may seem. Let's take a step back and see the whole picture, because you're a whole person, not just the challenge you're dealing with right now.
I enjoy working with various client issues but have a passion for helping people deal with past traumas and helping people learn to manage mental health challenges and neurodivergence like depression, anxiety, ADHD. Clients with these issues often don't fully understand their challenge and don't know what to do next. They often feel very alone and vulnerable. Therapy can truly change their lives and it's such an honor and privilege to partner with someone on their healing journey.
This is a great therapeutic intervention for building some great coping skills and processing both past traumas and current challenges.
This modality is incredible for people who deal with chronic issues, such as pain or mental health challenges. I love to take this approach for those dealing with depression or anxiety as well.
So much of our suffering comes from our thoughts and I like this treatment method for exploring and catching thought patterns that are inaccurate or just no longer serve us.
When changes need to be made but people are really stuck, this is a great way to explore elements of this and build a better change plan.

Elizabeth is the only actually good therapist I have had so far. She has so many tools to suggest that have helped me, from books and apps to practical everyday applications like breathing exercises and ways to set boundaries. She doesn't force anything on me that I'm not interested in, she helps me see things from different perspectives, and helps me see the ways in which I am improving and doing well so I don't only focus on all the ways I am screwing up. I always feel better after seeing her!

Extremely empathetic, helpful, and creative in how she offers perspective and solutions. I am beyond grateful that I started working with Elizabeth. The insight she's been able to provide has helped me make progress in so many areas of my life. When I stumble, she's always able to remind me of the progress I've made, and she helps me get back on track in ways that really work. She's taken the time to get to know me and to learn what works. As I said, beyond grateful to be working with her.

Elizabeth has been very personable in her approach to my care. We have been able to identify things important to me and my growth at the current point in my life, and I loved being able to share my progress and feel validated in myself and my approach to the world. Her observations, feedback, and questions have been invaluable to my reflection on my life and my healing. I appreciate her for rooting for me, letting me choose my own pace, and being patient with me through my learning of myself.
