Does anxiety, depression, or trauma interfere with living the life you imagined for yourself? Do you feel overwhelmed with competing priorities, struggling to fit it all in? Are you too focused on the needs of others while neglecting your own? Life is messy, full of ups and downs, often complicated by stressful experiences, deteriorating relationships, and major life transitions. Amid the chaos, you may have lost your sense of identity, your purpose, your confidence, your support system. I want to help. I connect well with individual adult clients from diverse cultural backgrounds who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, substance use, and domestic violence. My experience evolved by working in various community settings, including non-profit agencies, behavioral health clinics, and the criminal justice system. I believe a solid therapeutic alliance, that is the relationship between therapist and client, is fundamental to helping you make positive changes. As your therapist, I want to use transformative conversations that help you restore a sense of peace and balance. Let’s talk about creating a life that aligns with your strengths, values, and intentions. I look forward to working with you!
You can expect to leave first and subsequent sessions: *Feeling understood and validated *Being grounded in the present moment while hopeful for the future *Gaining new perspectives and coping skills *Living more intentionally in thought and action
My style is somewhat integrative, and I draw from Solution-Focused, Narrative, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy modalities. I find that metaphors are helpful by providing visual representations that lead to a deeper understanding of both problems and solutions. I also encourage clients to use relaxation techniques and mindfulness meditation, and I will occasionally include grounding activities into the session. Each client is different, and I tailor approaches to fit your unique circumstances.
I use a collaborative style, listening to understand, remaining curious, exploring new ideas, and finding manageable solutions. My sense of compassion helps me to create a safe, non-judgmental space. I focus on what you want to accomplish in the time we have together. I also support a culture of feedback and will continually check-in with you to make sure you are realizing progress.
