I am a second career social worker, who graduated with my MSW in 2014 and my Ph.D. in 2019, both from the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but have lived in the Houston area for 30+ years. I decided to become a social worker because of my personal experiences raising a child with behavioral health issues and experiencing profound loss following the sudden death of my husband. My goals were to help others the way my own family had been helped, but I also hoped to improve the experiences of others with similar lived experiences but less positive outcomes. In addition to my private practice, I am an adjunct professor at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work, and I frequently consult with immigration lawyers about the ways in which mental health issues may impact the path to asylum or citizenship. I practice with a trauma-informed style and am always conscious of the ways in which trauma impacts the lives and experiences of individuals in all walks of life. I have experience working with people who live with ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, and mood disorders generally. My goal is to support my clients in achieving their own goals for a happier and healthier life.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, so I want you to know exactly what to expect when we meet. Our first session is a low-pressure conversation focused on getting to know each other and exploring your personal goals. Because your body and mind are deeply connected, we will also look at the bigger picture of your physical health, including how any medical conditions or medications might be impacting your mood. Before our time is up, we will gently map out a couple of key areas you want to focus on first. While we won't be able to solve every challenge in our very first hour together, you will not leave our first session empty-handed. We will finish our session by practicing one or two practical coping strategies that you can start using immediately to manage your symptoms
If you are looking for a space where you can finally stop performing and just be heard, you are in the right place. For most people seeking therapy, the first and most important step is finding someone who truly knows how to listen—and that is the foundation of how I work. In our sessions, we will focus on what is already going well in your life rather than obsessing over what isn't. Using this strengths-based approach, we will work from strength to strength to help you achieve your personal goals. I also lean heavily into psycho-education, which means I will help you understand the "how" and "why" behind the challenges you are facing, while equipping you with concrete techniques to manage them. My practice is a safe, fiercely non-judgmental, and welcoming space for all individuals, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or immigration status.
My practice is specifically tailored for adults who feel overwhelmed by the relentless demands of modern life. You are an ideal fit for my approach if you are currently navigating: + Chronic insomnia: Tossing and turning at night because your brain simply refuses to shut off. + Work burnout: Juggling intense job pressures, professional expectations, and constant career fatigue. + Family stress: Managing the emotional and logistical realities of running a household and caring for others, including sandwich generation issues. + Societal anxiety: Feeling deeply drained, frustrated, or anxious about the current political climate. + Total overwhelm: Struggling to find a single moment for your own self-care and mental well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT techniques to help clients understand the ways in which unhelpful patterns of thinking impact their moods and behaviors, and then to change those patterns to encourage more adaptive and comfortable ways of being.
Grief Therapy
I utilize a task-based grief therapy model to assist clients in their grief and bereavement journey, providing an open and affirming space to normalize your own individual journey. I teach master's level social work students a class on grief and bereavement, and understand that grief is as unique as the individuals who experience it.

She was extremely good with identifying what I need to do to feel better. I love her style of counseling. I feel better from the very first session.

Dr. Ann looked welcoming and her bio felt like she is someone I could confide in. When we talked, I felt heard, seen and validated. I feel like Dr. Ann will be real, blunt, and helpful to me. I feel confident and comfortable that we will be successful together and that I can get the help I need from her.

Our first appointment was great 👍 Dr Webb was friendly, supportive, real, and really listened, I guess you could say we had a connection. I am very happy that I choose Dr. Ann Webb.
