I am a clinically licensed social worker based in Kansas and also licensed to practice in Massachusetts. I have been practicing therapy for more than 12 years and have worked in the field of human services for over 20 years. I primarily help adults who are experiencing difficulties with mood regulation, life transition, and overall wellbeing. I also have experience helping high accountability professionals as well as adults struggling with problematic substance use.
In our first session, I'll do a lot of listening to your story and to your goals for our work together. I will ask a few questions to help determine your preferred place to start the therapeutic process, as well as to determine what type of approach will work best for you.
The feedback that I've received from clients about their experiences with me, has been that I listen well, I bring useful insight into their process, and I adapt my therapeutic approach to fit their needs. My approach to the therapeutic process is a very collaborative one and I've found that clients appreciate this as well.
I utilize approaches from a variety of evidence-based practices as they fit the client's goals and personality
I have been using cognitive approaches for most of my career and primarily utilize this approach to identify and explore underlying thought patterns, assumptions and beliefs that keep clients feeling stuck.
I have been utilizing IFS as part of my clinical approach for about 5 years. I use this approach to help clients identify parts of themselves that are in conflict or that are getting in the way of their therapeutic goals. Using IFS techniques, I help the client to develop new relationships with the parts in order to allow increased access to the core self.
