About me

Christopher Dane Keil is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Helper, UT who works with individuals and couples across the lifespan. He supports clients facing trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction, especially when intense emotions—like fear, shame, or low self-worth—feel overwhelming or disruptive. Christopher’s approach is warm, validating, and practical. He tailors treatment to each client and blends evidence-based methods, including EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), to help the brain reprocess painful experiences and reduce symptoms. He also draws from IFS-informed, narrative, ACT, and somatic strategies as needed so clients gain tools that fit their lives. With more than 15 years in the mental health field and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix, Christopher’s goal is to help clients build resilience, feel more grounded, and take clear next steps in their healing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I have a variety of weekday, weekend, and evening appointments available. If you don't see a time on the schedule that works, please message me. I can accommodate most schedules. We’ll start our first session with you, finding a quiet spot where you feel comfortable. I’ll explain privacy in plain language and make sure you know you’re in charge of the pace—no pressure to share more than you want. Then I’ll ask what brought you here and what you’re hoping will feel different in your life. We’ll keep it simple: what’s hardest right now, and what would “better” look like? Before we end, I’ll offer one easy tool you can try this week—something you can use in real moments (to calm nerves, sleep a bit better, or get through a stressful day). If down the road you’re interested, I also offer structured trauma therapies like EMDR/ART, and I’ll explain them in everyday terms so you can decide if they’re right for you. No rush. We’ll wrap by checking your questions, scheduling, and next steps. My main goal in Session One is that you leave feeling heard, a little lighter, and clear on how we’ll move forward—one manageable step at a time.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets my approach apart -Trauma-informed and practical: I use EMDR and ART to reduce symptoms quickly, then pair that with day-to-day tools so you feel better between sessions—not just during them. -Collaborative, not prescriptive: We set goals together and check progress regularly; if something isn’t working, we adjust fast. -Whole-person focus: I blend IFS-informed, ACT, Narrative, and gentle somatic skills so we can work with thoughts, emotions, body cues, and core beliefs—all at a pace that feels safe. -Clear, simple language: No therapy jargon. I explain every method before we use it, so you always know why we’re doing what we’re doing.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

-Individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, or PTSD -“High-functioning but struggling” clients who appear fine yet feel burned out, numb, or highly self-critical -People carrying shame, low self-worth, or intrusive memories and want symptom relief, not just insight -Clients open to EMDR/ART and structured -Individuals and couples seeking a calm, validating space plus a clear roadmap for change -Clients navigating depression, anxiety, and big transitions—looking to reduce overwhelm, rebuild confidence, and feel like themselves again. -People working through depression, anxiety, or life changes (career shifts, loss, family stress) who want practical tools and consistent support.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I’m EMDR-certified. I use the EMDR model to help clients safely reprocess distressing memories. I pace the work in short, tolerable sets and, when helpful, integrate EMDR with CBT or Internal Family Systems

Somatic

Somatic work helps you notice how stress and emotion show up in your body and learn simple ways to calm your nervous system. We use grounding, breath, gentle movement, and awareness to release tension and feel safer in your skin.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT teaches practical skills to accept difficult thoughts and feelings while taking steps toward what matters most to you. We build mindfulness, clarify your values, and practice small, doable actions aligned with those values.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use IFS to help you make sense of your inner “parts” (like the critic, the worrier, or the pleaser) and let your calm, core self lead. We gently get to know each part and reduce its burden so you feel more balanced.

Narrative

In Narrative Therapy, we separate you from the problem and look at how the “story” around it was formed. Together we find exceptions, strengths, and new meanings so you can re-author a story that fits who you want to be.
