Frankie Vera
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and life transitions. My style is warm, genuine, and straightforward. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest, feel understood, and also be challenged in ways that help you grow.
First session
My goal is for clients to leave their first session feeling heard, understood, and clearer about what they want to work toward. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, identify the concerns affecting you most, and begin developing realistic goals together. I also want you to get a sense of my style and whether we feel like a good therapeutic fit.
Strengths
I bring a balance of compassion, honesty, and respectful challenge. I’m not someone who simply sits back and listens without direction. I help clients identify patterns, understand what may be keeping them stuck, and build practical tools they can use outside of therapy. My goal is to help clients become more confident in themselves, not dependent on therapy.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult who feels stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or dissatisfied with patterns in their relationships or daily life. They may be navigating stress, depression, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem, or communication difficulties. I work best with clients who are open to reflection, willing to be challenged, and interested in developing practical tools they can use outside of therapy.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and work on practical ways to respond differently. This can include challenging unhelpful thoughts, building coping skills, improving communication, and practicing new behaviors between sessions so progress carries into everyday life.
Psychodynamic
I use psychodynamic therapy to help clients understand how past experiences, relationships, and learned patterns may still be affecting them today. We look at recurring themes in relationships, emotional reactions, avoidance, and ways of coping that may have developed earlier in life. The goal is to build greater self-awareness so clients can make more intentional choices instead of repeating patterns that no longer serve them.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use solution-focused therapy to help clients identify what is already working, clarify what they want to change, and build practical steps toward those goals. Rather than spending every session focused only on problems, we also look at strengths, exceptions, and small changes that can create momentum. I use this approach to keep therapy collaborative, focused, and connected to progress clients can notice in everyday life.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore mixed feelings about change without judgment or pressure. Together, we look at what matters most to you, what may be getting in the way, and what would make change feel realistic and meaningful. This approach is especially helpful when you know something needs to shift but feel unsure, stuck, or not fully ready to take the next step.
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach by creating a space that emphasizes safety, choice, collaboration, and respect. I recognize that past experiences can shape how clients respond to stress, relationships, and difficult emotions in the present. I work at a pace that feels manageable, avoid pushing clients to disclose more than they are ready for, and focus on helping them build understanding, stability, and a greater sense of control.
