Hi, I'm Carolyn. I'm a therapist on Cape Cod. I typically work with my therapy animals: two Cavalier King Charles spaniels and my bunny Boots. But, I wanted to join this platform to make therapy more accessible to people who need it. One of the best compliments I have ever received is from a client who told me that I made them feel "so special". That brings me joy. I am very compassionate and love making people feel comforted and supported while they are struggling with various issues. I am here to listen in a non-judgmental way and support you. My specific experience is with adults and older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, addiction, stress and more. You are not alone. I am here and I look forward to meeting you.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
First and foremost, a client can expect a compassionate listener in their first session. I try to meet clients where they are. This means that I will adjust the focus of the first session based on what experience, if any, clients have had with therapy in the past. We will examine what was helpful and not helpful. I will explain my approach, do a brief introduction to CBT and DBT and encourage the client to consider whether that will work for them. I will explain what sessions will be like. These steps are important because I typically treat clients suffering from anxiety and it helps them to know in advance what to expect. Clients will have a good idea of what my approach and style is and I encourage them to consider whether we can align on treatment goals and if I'm the right fit for them.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I hope that one of my greatest strengths is my compassion and empathy for my clients. I always hope to make my clients feel heard and cared for in our session. I spend time developing the therapeutic rapport with my clients so that we can build trust between us and have formed a partnership to get them feeling better. Developing that rapport is the agent for change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based treatment that benefits my clients with anxiety, depression and addiction. I use CBT as the basis of my treatment by explaining the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors and working on cognitive restructuring. I partner with my clients to teach them how to challenge and change their thoughts so that they can manage their negative feelings on their own.
