Hi there! My name is Melody McKibbin and I'm a licensed professional counselor. I attended Amberton University and have been practicing therapy for 2.5 years. I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. My specialities are Borderline Personality Disorder, Grief, Depression, Anxiety and faith-based counseling. Let's work together to help you build a life worth living. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, my cats, and writing fiction.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be spent getting to know one another. Therapy is like buying a car - you want to ensure it is comfortable and works for you. My goal in this first session is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and maybe even a little lighter. You’ll also get a sense of how we can work together, what our sessions will look like moving forward, and how we can tackle those tough spots with compassion and maybe even a bit of humor. Most importantly, the first session is all about building that connection and trust. You can ask any questions, share what you're comfortable with, and we’ll start creating a plan that feels right for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are creating a safe, compassionate space where you feel truly heard and understood. I blend practical skills with warmth and humor, making therapy feel approachable and supportive. I tailor my approach to fit your unique needs, whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, grief, or relationship struggles. Above all, I’m committed to walking alongside you, providing hope and persistence every step of the way.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am certified in DBT and I use it with individuals. I adhere to the Marsha Linehan method. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, develop coping mechanisms, and improve relationships. It emphasizes balancing acceptance and change, using skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Originally created to treat Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), DBT is now used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, particularly those involving emotional dysregulation.

Christian Counseling

As a Christian, I can help clients of the Christian faith with Biblically-based viewpoints and guidance for navigating life's challenges. The Bible has a lot to share with us about overcoming mental health struggles and finding hope and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve emotional well-being. It is goal-oriented and helps individuals develop healthier ways of thinking and coping with challenges by addressing the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions.
