I am passionate about providing compassionate, intentional, and nonjudgmental care that helps clients work toward meaningful goals and lasting personal growth. My approach to therapy is collaborative and supportive, creating a space where you can feel heard, explore your experiences, process difficult emotions, and develop practical tools to navigate life's challenges. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with nearly 10 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of mental health and community settings. My professional background includes psychiatric emergencies, crisis stabilization, residential care, criminal justice, homelessness and housing services, developmental disabilities, private practice, school-based and community-based therapy, and individual and family counseling. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the unique challenges people face and the importance of meeting each person with compassion, respect, and individualized care. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2015, Bachelor of Social Work in 2017, and Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) in 2019 from the University of Louisville and its Kent School of Social Work. My therapeutic approach incorporates evidence-based practices, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can help individuals process traumatic experiences and address related emotional distress. I strive to tailor therapy to your needs, pace, and goals while helping you build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and move toward healing. I believe therapy is a space where you can show up as you are, without fear of judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. Whether you are navigating anxiety, difficult life experiences, emotional challenges, or seeking personal growth, we can work together to identify your strengths and develop a path forward that feels right for you. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family, engaging in sports, hiking, learning new skills, and binge-watching Netflix.

My identity and therapy practice are highly intertwined as I always say "I am a human before I am a therapist". Yes I went to college and got a big degree but my general desire for my clients is for them to feel like they are sitting with an authentic human who has "been there before". I moved from my home in Eastern KY Appalachia to Louisville in 2019. Having this experience has shown me that there ain't much difference in the suffering people have in the country and the city. I believe that our current society and systems all too often force people into hard spots and then tell them to pull themselves up and keep it pushing. My goal in therapy is to slow things down to normalize for you that we are not working on "what's wrong with you" but instead "what happened to you". This allows you to feel safe enough with me to share the parts of your life/mental that even you don't want to address. That is when you start healing. Cause once you feel seen and supported, you feel empowered enough to figure out how YOU want to live (not how you have been told to). I describe this whole process as you are driving the car and I am riding "shot gun" just pointing things out and making suggestions! I find that my unconditional acceptance of clients, use of real world humor/experiences, and gently pushing for change allows us to start building the skills and strategies you need to live in this world as an authentic you. Another favorite saying of mine is "it's your world my guy I'm just living in it"!

My name is Kimberly Watkins. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who cares deeply about helping you make your way. Being a native of a small town, I understand the challenges these communities face in gaining quality mental health care. Therefore, after college and getting married, I pursued higher education to fulfill my passion of becoming a counselor. Along the way, I have helped others in various capacities including displaced children and teen moms, working at a homeless shelter and grief center, teaching Social Emotional Learning classes to children in a school setting, providing school-based and outpatient therapy for children and adults in multiple mental health agencies and schools. I have also worked as a Group Therapist for teens/preteens in PHP/IOP Program. Through all these experiences I have gained a vast understanding and knowledge of challenges individuals and families face. I want to continue this journey by providing private individual therapy services. I seek to provide compassionate, client-centered counseling to individuals and families in communities. I seek to help individuals and families grow strong roots by encouraging clients to explore and utilize resources in their communities including family, friends, and faith-based services. I seek to help people address issues they are experiencing such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and relational challenges. I will meet each client where they are and help them work through past and current pain to build a more balanced and manageable life. My goal is to support individuals and families in building healthier, more resilient lives across generations. My personal passion is to strengthen communities by increasing access to compassionate, high quality mental health care.

Hi, I'm Helena (Hell-in-uh)! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience! I like to emphasize that at the heart of my practice, I am a Social Worker and I approach my work from that perspective. I acknowledge that there are barriers we all experience to living our best lives and that certain people experience more and worse barriers because of who they are. My work is most rewarding when I get to help folks level the playing field by accessing the support, validation and compassion they need.

I’m a licensed professional clinical counselor and counselor educator with more than a decade of experience in mental health, supervision, and counselor training. I work primarily with adults navigating stress, grief, identity, relationships, life transitions, burnout, and the effects of difficult past experiences. My approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that counseling should make room for the complexity of real life. I tend to be warm, thoughtful, straightforward, and curious. I’m not the kind of therapist who simply sits back and nods—I ask questions, offer perspective, and work alongside you to better understand patterns, possibilities, and what might actually be helpful. My practice is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and affirming of LGBTQ+ and other diverse identities and experiences. I especially enjoy working with people who are thoughtful and self-aware but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure what comes next. You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to counseling. We can start with where you are.

I’m a warm, down-to-earth therapist with more than 25 years of experience helping people navigate anxiety, trauma, relationships, grief, career and life transitions, and those seasons when life simply doesn’t look the way you thought it would. My approach is compassionate, practical, solution-focused, and collaborative. I’ll listen carefully and create a space where you can be completely yourself—but I’ll also ask thoughtful questions, offer honest feedback, help you recognize patterns, and give you practical tools you can actually use outside of therapy. Life experience has shaped me just as much as education and professional training. I’ve been married to my HS sweetheart for more than four decades, raised three children, experienced loss and grief, navigated career changes, family challenges, parenting, marriage, aging, and the many unexpected chapters that come with building a life alongside the people you love. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for resilience, relationships, humor, and the fact that none of us gets through life without a few scars and stories! My work is especially meaningful with adults and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting, first responder or military life, grief, major transitions, and questions about identity or purpose. I enjoy working with people who may appear capable and successful on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or exhausted from holding everything together. My therapy is holistic and individualized. Depending on what fits you, we may incorporate evidence-based approaches alongside mindfulness, humor, nature, animals, relationships, meaning and purpose, and faith or spirituality if that's valued. I believe therapy should help you understand where you’ve been without keeping you there. Together, we’ll focus on healing what hurts, strengthening what already works, and helping you intentionally build a life and relationships that feel authentic, meaningful, and with any luck a little lighter.

Hello! My name is Amaris, and I’m glad you’re here :) Do you ever feel like you’re carrying more than your share — emotionally, mentally, or relationally? Do you find yourself doubting your needs, overthinking decisions, or feeling responsible for everyone else’s wellbeing? Many women move through the world with expectations and pressures that shape how they show up. My work focuses on helping women understand the “why” behind their emotions and behaviors so they can move through life with more clarity, confidence, and self‑trust. Sometimes personal growth means recognizing that you’re either going to deal with your stuff, or your stuff is going to deal with you. Therapy is a powerful place to begin that process.

My journey into counseling was shaped by years of serving others on the frontlines and witnessing the physical, emotional, and spiritual impact of trauma firsthand. I bring that same sense of compassion, discipline, and calm under pressure into the therapy space. I believe that healing involves the whole person, including the mind, body, and spirit. My approach blends evidence-based clinical methods with Christian principles when desired, helping clients not only manage symptoms but also rediscover meaning, identity, and purpose. Welcome. I’m a combat veteran and retired Army officer, Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and experienced clinical psychologist. I want to get into the root causes of your struggles or battle and find ways to overcome, change, forgive, accept, and move upward toward the light. It may not seem like it, but the darkness will eventually lift, and the light will surely shine again. Life is a battle in the heart, and I humbly accept that I will be in my own battle or someone else’s battle for the rest of my life. Like the weather, our emotions are powerful. Many days the sun shines, but the rains do come and sometimes a destructive storm hits hard (divorce, the loss of a loved one, cancer, suicidal thoughts, et cetera). It's a battlefield. When it comes to the challenge of relationships, so often, it is ego (wounded pride), self-esteem, and powerful emotions at the root of our conflicts. To understand these forces is the key to peace. Let's work through it! I have been honored to be in the field of psychology for 22 years since 2004. Through the years, more than half of my time was in the Army where I primarily worked with soldiers enduring anxiety, depression, trauma, Traumatic Brain Injury, and all the other usual suspects of psychological distress. It was a time well for the analysis of guilt, fear, worry, shame, pain, heartbreak, addiction, identity conflicts, and sorrow. I’ve also worked in the prisons for many years with some extreme situations (i.e., murder, severe mental illness, rape, child molestation, drug kingpins, gang leaders). So, no matter what your circumstances are, never quit and never give up! Survival is a noble plight!

My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where you can make sense of what you have experienced, develop practical tools for coping, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels manageable. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe therapy should reflect the person in front of me rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we can identify patterns, build on your strengths, develop healthier ways of responding to stress, and work toward greater stability, connection, and confidence. I also have a special appreciation for adolescents and young adults navigating the transition into adulthood, including school or career pressures, family and relationship challenges, emotional regulation concerns, and emerging mental health needs. Through Phoenix RISE, my goal is to help people reflect on their experiences, recognize their strengths, feel supported through difficult seasons, and become more empowered in their lives.

Do you ever feel stuck? Do the negative beliefs you have ever hold you back—make you feel like you can’t move forward? Not sure what to do next? Sometimes life can throw you a curveball and when it does, I’m here to help. My name is Carol Poston. I’ve been a Marriage and Family Therapist for over 11 years. I am an experienced EMDR therapist and have witnessed the power of that modality to transform the life of my clients. I have extensive experience with grief and loss with 8 years of experience as a hospice bereavement counselor and chaplain. I understand the importance of religious beliefs on personal development and growth. My therapeutic style is shaped by my hospice experience. Every moment is critical. It’s not simply the case of making the most of each moment. It is indeed that this moment, this day, this session, is the most important. Being present and bearing witness to my client’s pain in this moment is what matters. In our sessions we manage the urgent but focus on what is most important. You are the expert in your own life--I am the professional guide here to help navigate your way through this difficult time. I am excited that you are considering me to be your guide to help you chart a new course for your life.

Hi, I’m Marie — a therapist who believes that change is always possible, no matter where you are in life. My goal is to help you feel better emotionally, think more clearly, and move toward a future that feels fulfilling and peaceful. In our sessions, we’ll work together to understand what’s been holding you back and find practical ways to move forward. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you notice how your thoughts affect your emotions and actions—and teach you tools to shift negative thinking. I also use a solution-focused approach, which means we’ll focus on your strengths, celebrate what’s working, and create small, realistic steps that bring real progress. I often work with adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, or major life changes—like adjusting after a loss, a new diagnosis, or changes that come with getting older. My approach is supportive and empowering. I want you to feel heard, encouraged, and equipped with the tools to handle life’s challenges with more confidence and hope. As an immigrant and a bilingual therapist speaking both English and French, I understand the importance of culture, identity, and belonging. This lived experience allows me to better connect with clients from diverse backgrounds and support them through challenges related to identity, adjustment, and navigating different cultural expectations. My background helps me approach therapy with openness, cultural sensitivity, and a deep belief in the resilience of the human spirit.

I am a holistic and integrative therapist offering somatic psychotherapy online. I support clients who are navigating chronic stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, CPTSD, neurodiversity and high sensitivity. I integrate eastern and western modalities to offer a truly holistic approach to healing and highly effective therapy: Somatic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reiki & Energy Therapy, Spinal Energetics and Therapeutic Yoga. Our past experiences live in the body and entire system, not only in the mind. I believe it is important to work with the whole self when it comes to healing. My primary approach is somatic-- inviting the body into the conversation and processing emotion, energy and experience through the body-mind.

Sometimes it feels like the actual apocalypse is just around the corner. We are bombarded with terrible headline after terrible headline. Inflation is making it harder to pay the bills, let alone have fun, or reach our dreams. With so much going on in the world, it’s no wonder that there are greater rates of anxiety and depression! In the midst of it all, you might be trying to figure out who you are, what you want from life, how to have that honest conversation with your friend, setting boundaries with a parent, whether to switch jobs, learning to be more comfortable in your skin, etc. It’s a lot to manage. I can help. I am a licensed psychologist and consider myself a generalist with a wide variety of clinical interests including issues related to family of origin, self esteem, identity development, issues related to oppression and marginalized identities, depression, anxiety, stress, and interpersonal relationships.

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Kentucky. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Kentucky from Bowling Green to Lexington! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Kentucky.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
