I am an LPCC from Kentucky, I graduated with my Masters degree from WKU. I have been practicing therapy early on from internship to my LPCA, my LPCC, and soon I will be able to gain my supervisor credential and become an LPCC-S. I attempt to balance an empathetic approach with a scientific approach to therapy as I think it is important to view situations and client cases from both perspectives rather than only one. I like to remove rigid stereotypes of therapy and approach it with a more holistic and casual approach, again, with that added scientific foundation.

The one question I get most often by clients and peers is: Why did you go into the counseling profession? My response is always the same. First, I have always had a desire to help people in a time of need or distress. I have felt this way as far back as high school. Secondly, I went through a debilitating anxiety disorder in my mid-twenties. I know first-hand the helplessness and desperation mental and emotional pain causes. I never condone a therapist sharing with a client, they know how the client feels unless they themselves have experienced a similar type of pain. Lastly, I believe in the power of counseling and the benefits it can offer. Counseling is very different from medicine. Counseling requires the client to be actively involved in the process of healing and growth rather than taking medication and waiting for it to work. Counseling empowers a client to by allowing them to see their progress towards the life they desire on a daily, weekly, and even monthly basis.

I have always been passionate about trauma work and my experience has only reinforced this passion. While I’ve worked with a wide variety of symptoms, presenting issues, and individuals, the one common theme that I've noticed is most, if not all, of these individuals have trauma. I’m also a practical person. I believe that, if trauma is at the root of your anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, sleep issues, low self-esteem, etc, then working to heal that past trauma makes the most sense in getting symptom relief.

I’m a therapist who keeps things real and meets people where they’re at. I work with adults dealing with trauma, stress, and life transitions, and my goal is to create a space where you can just be yourself without feeling judged. I use a mix of approaches depending on what actually works for you—including EMDR, Client centered, CBT, DBT, or TF-CBT for trauma and an integrative mental health approach that looks at the whole picture, not just symptoms. That can mean talking through things, building practical coping skills, or exploring how your mind and body are connected. I’m supportive, but also honest and direct when it matters. Therapy with me is a collaborative process—we figure things out together. My name is Kimberly Watkins. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who cares deeply about helping you make your way. Being a native of a small town, I understand the challenges these communities face in gaining quality mental health care. Therefore, after college and getting married, I pursued higher education to fulfill my passion of becoming a counselor. Along the way, I have helped others in various capacities including displaced children and teen moms, working at a homeless shelter and grief center, teaching Social Emotional Learning classes to children in a school setting, providing school-based and outpatient therapy for children and adults in multiple mental health agencies and schools. I have also worked as a Group Therapist for teens/preteens in PHP/IOP Program. Through all these experiences I have gained a vast understanding and knowledge of challenges individuals and families face. I want to continue this journey by providing private individual therapy services. I seek to provide compassionate, client-centered counseling to individuals and families in communities. I seek to help individuals and families grow strong roots by encouraging clients to explore and utilize resources in their communities including family, friends, and faith-based services. I seek to help people address issues they are experiencing such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and relational challenges. I will meet each client where they are and help them work through past and current pain to build a more balanced and manageable life. As a parent, you may notice the growing complexity of raising teens in a world that never slows down. Normal adolescent development already brings its own demands. Add increasing academic pressure, social stress, and digital exposure, and some teens begin to struggle with anxiety, emotional reactivity, mood problems, trauma, and harmful coping behaviors. It can be hard to know what's typical, what's escalating, and what to do next. Using a flexible approach, I help families make sense of what to accept, support, and nurture, and what needs thoughtful intervention. I work to help young people build insight and learn regulation and coping skills while helping caregivers respond with confidence, clarity, and skills to support lasting change.

Walking with people through life's difficulties and struggles is a privileged, honor, and part of my purpose in life. I commit my life to helping people find their way back to the right paths that they want to be on to live out their purpose. Hi! My name is Lana and I have been a LCSW since 2011. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I specialize in issues of adjustment, trauma, depression, anxiety, crisis, grief, child and adolescent behaviors, and sexual abuse. I also have experience with talking with individuals with mood and personality disorders, PTSD, and issues surrounding divorce. On a more personal level, I enjoy traveling and refer to myself as a coffee connoisseur. I also have two small dogs that think they run the world and like to introduce themselves from time to time in my sessions. I always have a plan but I believe some of life's greatest adventures are in taking the scenic route.

Welcome to my practice. As a licensed therapist, I help adults navigate life’s transitions, process past experiences, and reconnect with their authentic selves. With over 20 years of clinical experience, my work focuses on women’s health, trauma-informed care, and relationship dynamics—supporting those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. I also serve as a lecturer for the University of Kentucky School of Social Work. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I view therapy as a space not only for healing, but for meaningful growth, stronger relationships, and a renewed sense of self. Clients often describe me as calm, supportive, and deeply attuned. I look forward to getting to know you.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Kentucky. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Kentucky from Bowling Green to Lexington! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Kentucky.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Trauma and PTSD, is filtering therapists in Kentucky that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
