Hi there, I'm a therapist who is part of the LGBTQ+ community. I strive to make the work I do a safe and caring space for my clients. I have work the past 5 years in private practice/addiction facilities. I am a License Professional Clinical Counselor and I have worked with individuals struggling with symptoms of ADHD, Autism, depression, anxiety, Disassociative Identiy Disorder, PTSD, and identity concerns.
During our first session, we will review the paperwork you initially signed. I will intorduce myself more formally discussing where I received my education, diagnoses/clients I have served, and will build rapport with you. Clients should know that questions are encouraged! Therapy isn't easy, however, it shouldn't be more difficult than it already can be at times.
I find it hard to answer this question, so instead, I will say what clients have told me prior. "You provide an open and caring space," "I appreciate that you relate with me and make things so understandable," and "I appreciate the work you do. It's helped me process so much."
I am trained and experienced in working with LGBTQ+ clients. I have a personal understand as I am part of the community myself.
I utilize narrative therapy techniques that aid in reducing stressors in the clients lives. By understanding the client is the expert in their story, I walk alongside them as fhey process and interpret their experiences in healthy and collaborative ways to externalize, map, and reduce symptoms the client may present.
The client is the expert in their life. The clinician provides novel ways to improve understanding of experiences through rapport building, empathetic remarks, and validation throughout their sessions. As a clinician I provide a holistic and client forward perspective when addressing presenting problems.
I provide clients with ways to improve their symptoms by helping them understand and translate therapuetic terms. Clinician provides resources for the client to process information outside of sessions.
While I do utilize this technique in ways that are understandable, I make more of a focus on reducing negative self-esteem and self-image. I utilize this approah to identify and objectively see how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors impact ourselves and those around us.
I am knowledgeable about different types of trauma, such as, domestic violence and sexual assault and the impacts that has on client outcomes as well as interpersonal relationships.
