Hi, I'm Helena (Hell-in-uh)! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with almost 10 years of experience! I like to emphasize that at the heart of my practice, I am a Social Worker and I approach my work from that perspective. I acknowledge that there are barriers we all experience to living our best lives and that certain people experience more and worse barriers because of who they are. My work is most rewarding when I get to help folks level the playing field by accessing the support, validation and compassion they need.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We usually spend the first session getting to know each other, I will ask lots of questions to get an idea of why you are seeking therapy and what you hope to get from working together. I also have experience working as a consultant where I do brief assessments to help people clarify what they need- so if you feel like you need to do something but aren't sure what, I would be happy to help you figure it out!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I named my therapy practice Be Good Therapy because 1. it was a sweet thing my grandmother used to say to me when we were leaving each other 2. I want to help people be "good". We are so often pushed to be the best at anything we do and it is exhausting- we barrel towards burnout and don't know how to fix it or set boundaries with people, our jobs, family etc. Or conversely, we find ourselves in a bad spot and don't know how to get out. I think that being "good" is the happy medium most of us are looking for. I teach self-compassion, give empathy and validation and a supportive place to explore yourself. I also try to incorporate a lot of humor. Life is funny sometimes! Therapy is hard and I find that a good laugh or call out makes it easier.
